The Big Bash League 2024/25 is just a few weeks away with the Brisbane Heat preparing to begin their title defence.
The Heat won their second BBL title in 2023/24 and are among the hot fancies to go all the way once again when the new campaign gets underway.
Perth Scorchers will also be out to bounce back after a disappointing season, so the competition for the championship will be fierce.
Perth Scorchers - 5.00
Sydney Sixers - 5.50
Brisbane Heat - 6.00
Hobart Hurricanes - 7.00
Sydney Thunder - 7.50
Adelaide Strikers - 9.00
Melbourne Stars - 9.00
Melbourne Renegades - 10.00
Perth Scorchers - 5.00
The Scorchers are still the hot fancies to go on and win their sixth Big Bash League title in 2024/25.
They were denied the three-peat last season, but with influential skipper Ashton Turner back fit and available, the men from the west will fancy their chances of bouncing back.
The recruitment of big-hitting New Zealand opener Finn Allen will add more firepower to the ranks and boost their chances of success.
Sydney Sixers - 5.50
The Sixers will be out to win their fourth Big Bash League title this season. They last won it in the 2020/21 campaign and have also finished runners-up on three occasions.
They were defeated in the 2023/24 BBL final and will be keen to bounce back this year. They can be backed at 5.50 to go all the way and win the BBL.
The Sixers have a side packed with quality, including Steven Smith, Sean Abbott and Josh Philippe.
Brisbane Heat - 6.00
The Heat are the reigning premiers after winning the 2023/24 Big Bash title, beating Sydney Sixers in the final.
It was their second championship after also winning it in 2012/13 and the Heat have performed well in the BBL over the last couple of years and were also runners-up in 2022/23.
Hobart Hurricanes - 7.00
The Hurricanes have yet to win a Big Bash League title but will be out to break the drought in the 2024/25 season.
They have made finals on six occasions, but have missed out in the last two season, so extending their season will be the first objective.
England all-rounder Chris Jordan will be a huge player for the Hurricanes, who are 7.00 to win BBL 14.
Sydney Thunder - 7.50
The Thunder have been handed a big boost with the news that David Warner is free to captain the side this season.
Warner, now retired from international cricket, is available for the entire BBL season and his leadership will be crucial.
The Thunder are another side that have under-performed over the years, winning the BBL title just once in 2015/16.
They missed out on finals altogether last season and even worse, ended up with the wooden spoon.
The Thunder have also pulled off a huge coup when luring Sam Billings from the Heat.
Adelaide Strikers - 9.00
The Strikers' chances of success in BBL 14 have been given a lift with the news that Travis Head will be available for three games.
The men from Adelaide won their one and only championship in 2017/18, when Head was the captain of the side.
He will now take time out of a hectic schedule to play three games, and that is better than nothing for the Strikers as they look to build on last season’s finals appearance.
They are 9.00 to win BBL 14 and have a solid squad that includes the likes of Alex Carey and Chris Lynn.
Melbourne Stars - 9.00
For a franchise the size of the Melbourne Stars it is astonishing that they have yet to win a Big Bash title.
They have finished runners-up on three occasions and are outsiders to go all the way this year.
The Stars will have Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tom Curran and Ben Duckett in their squad, so have the players to upset the odds.
There are concerns over the fitness of Maxwell, who picked up a hamstring injury playing for Australia, and is facing a race against time to make the start of BBL 14.
Melbourne Renegades - 10.00
The Renegades last won the title in 2018/19 and have made finals just once in the last four seasons.
They have some talented young players in the form of Jake Fraser-McGurk and Will Sutherland but are at the back of the pack in the outright market to win BBL 14.
