Big Bash 2024/25: Schedule, fixtures, dates and odds

The 2024/25 Big Bash League season will be the 14th edition of the Twenty20 competition and Brisbane Heat will be out to defend their crown.

The kings of the BBL, the Perth Scorchers, were knocked off their throne last year and will be determined to bounce back.

There will be an influx of English players in the competition this year after they dominated the draft and it looks sure to be another exciting season.

Teams involved in BBL 14

Once again eight teams will battle it out in the Big Bash League and the competition will be made up of the usual suspects.

The eight teams are: Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.

Latest outright odds

The Perth Scorchers have been the most dominant side in the history of the Big Bash League, winning the championship on five occasions.

The men in orange were targeting a third title in a row last year, but came unstuck as Brisbane Heat were crowned champions.

The Scorchers are the hot fancies at 5.00 to bounce back and win the Big Bash League, while the Heat are 6.00 to defend their title.

Sydney Sixers are sandwiched in between, priced at 5.50, while at the other end of the outright market Adelaide Strikers (9.00), Melbourne Stars (9.00) and Melbourne Renegades (10.00) are the outsiders.

Finals schedule

The finals schedule was changed for the 2023/24 campaign, but will remain the same for 2024/25.

Previously the top five would qualify for finals, but now it will be the top four that head into the end of season shoot-out.

There will be just four matches played in finals. The Qualifier will be played on 21st January, which will see first take on second.

The Knockout between third and fourth will be the following day, with the Challenger between the Qualifier loser and Knockout winner will be played on 24th January.

The Grand Final on will see the Qualifier winner and Challenger winner battle it out on 27th January.

Opening games of BBL 14

The opening match of the Big Bash League this season will take place on 15th December and will see Perth Scorchers entertain the Melbourne Stars at Optus Stadium.

Match 2 will see Sydney Sixers take on Melbourne Renegades, with Sydney Thunder entertaining Adelaide Strikers on 17th December.

Defending champions Brisbane Heat will play their first game when they travel to take on Melbourne Stars on 18th December.

Hobart Hurricanes will open their campaign at Melbourne Renegades on 19th December.
