Big Bash preview: Sixers out for four in a row

Sydney Sixers will be out to make it four wins on the spin when they take on the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day.

The Sixers have started BBL 13 in fine style when winning their opening three games, and they can be backed at 2.20 to go on and reach the final.

Having missed out on the big dance last year, it will be the very least the Sixers will be hoping for this year, with the Big Bash League title the goal.

For that to happen, they need to keep winning, and the Stars, who have yet to taste success in this campaign, are next up.

In stark contrast, the Stars have lost three from three and are on course to finish bottom of the ladder unless they can turn their season around.

Sixers are on a roll

The Sixers made it three wins from three on Friday, but only just as they edged out the Adelaide Strikers by just one run in a thrilling encounter.

After being put into bat, the Sixers made 155-7 off their 20 overs and it was Jordan Silk who was the star of the show when finishing on 66 not out.

His runs came off 45 deliveries and Silk is priced at 6.50 to be Team – Top Batter once again when they take on the Melbourne Stars.

Josh Philippe, who chipped in with 25 runs against the Stars, can be backed at 4.00 along with James Vince.

Moises Henriques continues to shine for the Sixers. Not only did he score 23 runs against the Strikers, he also took two wickets for 11 runs in two crucial overs.

In a tense thriller, the Sixers bowling attack managed to hold their nerve as the Strikers fell just one run short.

Henriques is a big price at 6.00 to be Team – Top bowler, while Ben Dwarshuis, who bowled the final over against the Strikers, has five wickets so far in this BBL, is 3.10.

Stars suffer again

Melbourne Stars are still searching for their first win of BBL 13 after losing by five wickets to Sydney Thunder on Saturday.

After making 172 runs off their 20 overs, the Thunder went past it with 10 balls of their innings remaining.

There were some positives for the Stars, who will now attempt to pick themselves up and go again.

Beau Webster was the star with the bat against the Thunder when smashing 59 runs which included two sixes and two fours.

He forms a tidy partnership with Glenn Maxwell, who scored 30 runs. Webster can be backed at 4.50 to be the Stars Team – Top Batter, with Maxwell a touch longer at 4.75.

Webster was also outstanding with ball in hand when taking four wickets during his four overs, for the loss of 29 runs.

He can also be backed at 6.50 to be Team – Top Bowler.
