Big Bash: Thunder set for Canberra opener

The Thunder are priced at 13.00 to win BBL 13 and will be keen to get off to a solid start against a Heat side that have already played one game.

Heat started with a convincing winning over Melbourne Stars before their match against Adelaide Strikers was called off due to bad weather.

Brisbane can be backed at 5.50 to go on and win the Big Bash League this season and will be out to build on their opening win.

Thunder set to unleash Zaman

Sydney Thunder hope to have an ace up their sleeve this season in the form of Pakistan fast bowler Zaman Khan.

The Thunder snapped Zaman up using pick 13 in the draft and they hope he will be a household name in just a few weeks time.

The 22-year-old has already been described as one of the ‘best death bowlers in the world’, and is catching the eye in T20 cricket after shining in both Pakistan and England.

Zaman took 25 wickets in the T20 Blast in England and will now be out to shine for the Thunder in the Big Bash League.

The youngster can be backed at 4.50 to be Team – Top Batter in the clash against the Heat.

Meanwhile Thunder have just signed up Australian Under-19 star Sam Konstas for BBL13 and the talented batsman will also be looking to making an impact.

The Thunder have a talented list that includes an exciting opening batting partnership of Alex Hales and Cameron Bancroft.

The duo both know how to score runs and will be crucial for the Thunder this season.

Hales is priced at 3.40 to be Team – Top Batter against against Heat, while Bancroft is 4.00.

Heat without top duo

The Heat will be without Australian stars Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja for the clash as they turn their focus to Test cricket.

The first Test against Pakistan is set to get underway this week and both players will be involved.

However the Heat could be boosted by the return of Matt Renshaw, Jimmy Peirson and Nathan McSweeney, who were all selected for the Prime Minister’s XI against Pakistan.

Renshaw was in good touch in that game and will hope to carry his form into the clash against the Thunder if selected.

However Colin Munro could be the real danger man once again after plundering 99 runs in the opening victory over the Stars.

That knock came off 61 deliveries and Munro can be backed at 3.50 to be Team – Top Batter against the Thunder.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Swepson could be the big danger with the ball after taking 3-23 in the win over the Stars.

He is priced at 4.33 to be Team – Top Bowler.
