Big Bash Women: Scorchers out to down Renegades

Perth Scorchers will be targeting back-to-back wins in the WBBL when they take on the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday.

The Scorchers got their campaign up and running with a victory over the Melbourne Stars at the WACA, but now they head east looking for another two points.

The women from the west can be backed at 2.75 to go all the way to the WBBL final, and a win against the Renegades would keep them on track.

The Renegades are in desperate need of a boost following a poor start to the season that has seen them lose both of their opening games.

There would be nothing like a home win over the Scorchers to get their season up and running and give them some hope.

They can be backed at 9.00 to make the WBBL final.

Renegades in need of a lift

Melbourne Renegades have not won in the last five matches and need to break the drought against the Scorchers on Saturday.

In their latest defeat against Brisbane Heat they fell well short, losing by 28 runs after struggling with both bat and ball.

Having put the Heat into bat, they struggled to contain them, and were left needing 170 runs to win the match.

Hayley Matthews and Sophie Molineux both took a couple of wickets, while Georgia Wareham took one.

It wasn’t good enough on the day, but all three will be in the mix to be Team – Top Bowler once again.

The Renegades made it to 141-9 off their 20 overs and will need to put on a better performance against the Scorchers.

Matthews was again one of the Renegades best players and made 35 runs off 23 deliveries.

She put on 51 with Courtney Webb, before losing her wicket in the sixth over.

Matthews and Webb can be backed at 1.90 to put on an opening partnership total of over 21.5 runs.

Scorchers dominate Renegades

The Scorchers have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides, and smashed them by 10 wickets in the last match.

They began their season with a 13-run win over Melbourne Stars despite making just 122-8 off their 20 overs.

If they bat first again on Saturday, the Scorchers can be backed at 1.83 to put in an improved display and score over 160.5 runs.

Beth Mooney will again be in the hunt to be Team – Top Batter, after taking the honour against the Stars with 31 runs from 27 deliveries.

Alana King will also be a big threat with ball in hand. The leg spinner took three crucial wickets in the win over the Stars.
