Big Bash Women: Sixers target two in a row

Sydney Sixers will be out for back-to-back victories when they take on the Adelaide Strikers at North Sydney Oval.

The Sixers got the WBBL campaign off to a winning start when seeing off Melbourne Renegades, while reigning champions, Adelaide, slipped up against Brisbane Heat.

The Strikers are targeting their third title in a row and will be keen to bounce back in a massive clash at the North Sydney Oval.

It will be far from easy though as the Sixers look like team to beat in the race for the Big Bash title.

The Sixers can be backed at 4.20 to win Big Bash Women 2024, while the Strikers are available at 6.00.

The Sixers got their campaign off to the perfect start as they defeated Melbourne Renegades by three wickets on Sunday.

Having been set a target of 179 to win the game, Ellyse Perry turned on the style to help them get there with an over to spare.

Perry smashed 11 fours and three sixes on her way to 81 runs, scored off just 38 deliveries.

The superstar all-rounder will now look to carry such form into the game against the Strikers on Tuesday night.

Sarah Bryce was also impressive with the bat with an unbeaten 36 runs off 25 deliveries, that guided the Sixers home.

Bryce should gain plenty of confidence from that performance and will be another player to watch at the North Sydney Oval.

When it came to taking the Renegades wickets, Perry, Courtney Sippel and Sophie Ecclestone all took two wickets each.

Strikers look to respond

Adelaide Strikers will be out to bounce back after losing to the Brisbane Heat by four wickets in their opening game.

Put into bat, the Strikers struggled to get into any kind of groove and made just 133-5 off their 20 overs.

Captain Tahlia McGrath was the star of the show with the bat when scoring an unbeaten 51 runs off 41 deliveries, while opening bat Katie Mack also chipped in with 37 runs.

The Strikers will need more if they are to overcome the Sixers and Laura Wolvaardt will be among the players keen to get back among the runs.

Brisbane made light work of the total getting there with two overs remaining, but Megan Schutt did her best to stop them in their tracks.

Schutt took two late wickets and will be in with a shout of being Adelaide’s Team – Top Bowler against the Sixers.
