Big Bash Women: Adelaide Strikers begin title defence against Melbourne Heat

Adelaide have won the last two editions of the BBL and will be hopeful of making it three on the bounce.

They can be backed at 4.75 to do just that, while the Heat are also in the mix at 7.00.

It may be the very first game, but there is plenty at stake, as both sides look to make a strong start to the season.

Strikers have the edge over Heat

The Strikers won the last five games of last season on their way to Big Bash glory, and they will look to continue where they left off.

They do have a good record against the Heat when winning three of the last five meetings between the two sides.

The last two meetings have been very close however. The Strikers on the last one by three runs, while the Heat won the previous game by four wickets with one ball remaining.

Katie Mack was a huge player for the Strikers in WBBL 09 when scoring a total of 452 runs and is sure to be a key player once again.

The same can be said of Amanda-Jade Wellington, who took 23 wickets during last season, and will be a big threat.

The Strikers have also added power-hitter Ellie Johnston to their ranks, and the wicketkeeper/batter will look to make an immediate impact against the Heat.

Grace Harris is key for Heat

The Heat have a roster packed with quality, including Grace Harris, who smashed an impressive 501 runs during the WBBL 09 campaign.

They also have a talented bowling attack with Jess Jonassen taking 24 wickets, while Nicola Hancock also took 23.

All three players will be key to the Heat starting their campaign with a win over the Strikers on their own patch.

Brisbane have strengthened with the captures of Bonnie Berry, Sianna Ginger, Shikha Pandey, Jemimah Rodrigues, Mikayla Wrigley.
