AFL: Bombers refuse to be grounded

Essendon will be out to consolidate their place in the AFL top four when they take on struggling North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The Bombers made a statement of intent when beating Greater Western Sydney last week to move to third spot on the ladder.

Essendon will now attempt to stay there for the rest of the season and can be backed at 3.75 to finish in the top four.

Melbourne sit one place below Essendon in fourth spot and they will view a trip to Perth to take on West Coast Eagles as a must-win game.

In Sunday’s third game of the day, Port Adelaide will look to build on last week’s win over Geelong when they take on Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval.

Essendon are unbeaten in the last five games and should stretch that to six when they take on the Kangaroos.

The Bombers have won the last 10 meetings between the two teams, but the last two have been very close.

Essendon won the corresponding fixture last season by just six points, while they won by nine when North where the home side.

It could be a different story this season, with the Bombers 4.00 to win by 73+ points.

Kyle Langford has booted 24 goals so far this season and is priced at 7.00 to kick the first of the game on Sunday.

Port need to find consistency

Port Adelaide are struggling for consistency and are currently on a run of win one then lose one.

They picked up a massive win over Geelong last weekend, but now need to make sure there is no complacency when they take on the Hawks.

Hawthorn are a team on the up and have recovered from a poor start to the season to win three out of the last four games.

The one defeat was heavy against Sydney, but they bounced back well to beat Western Bulldogs and St Kilda by seven and five points respectively.

They can be backed at 9.50 to win by 1-12 and keep the good run going.

Dylan Moore has kicked 15 goals already this season and is 1.30 to boot another at anytime.

Eagles eyeing home comforts

West Coast have impressed at home when beating Fremantle and Richmond, while they also ran Essendon close, losing by just six points.

However, they were thrashed by 66 points at Collingwood last week and will be keen to bounce back.

Jake Waterman is having a great season, averaging three goals a game. The forward will be out to keep the goals flowing and is 10.00 to kick the first of the game.

Melbourne will be out to bounce back from a one-point defeat against Carlton and do have a great record at Optus.

They have won six on the bounce and are priced at 5.00 to win by 25-36 points.
