Liam Paro v Richardson Hitchins: Big fight preview

Liam Paro is out to defend his IBF super lightweight title when he goes toe-to-toe with Richardson Hitchins on Sunday.

Paro and Hitchins will clash in Puerto Rico, where the Australian pulled off a surprise win over Subriel Matias back in June.

There is already talk of a future showdown with fellow Aussie George Kambosos, but for now all the focus is on his fight with Hitchins.

Paro to go on the attack

Paro heads into the fight with an impressive record of 25 wins and zero losses, with 15 of those wins coming by way of knock-out.

The Aussie will be desperate to stay undefeated, and says he knows how to get the best of his American opponent.

Paro believes that Hitchins wants a ‘low-pace fight’ with ‘low punch volume’, but he plans to take the fight to him from the first bell.

Paro has admitted it could go the distance of 12 rounds, and is predicting it will be a long night for Hitchins.

At 28 years of age, Paro is a year older than Hitchins and has also had seven more fights, making him the more experienced fighter.

Paro should head in to the fight full of confidence after beating Matias, and in the two fights before that he knocked out both Brock Jarvis and Montana Love.

Hitchins a dangerous opponent

Hitchins is also undefeated heading into the fight having won all 18 of his fights so far, seven of those being by way of knock-out.

The American is in good form after stopping two of his last five opponents. His last fight was in April 2024 when he beat Gustavo Lemos by unanimous decision.

The war of words has been hotting up leading into Sunday, with Hitchins accusing Paro of being a ‘dirty fighter’.

Hitchins last five fights have lasted 9.2 rounds on average, while Paro’s have lasted 7.2 rounds.

The American is taller than Paro and has a three inch reach advantage that he will be looking to put to good use.
