Brisbane v Port Adelaide: AFL Saturday preview

Brisbane are battling to keep hold of second spot on the ladder and cannot afford to slip up against Port Adelaide at the Gabba.

The Lions are back in action after the bye, and will be desperate to find some consistency as the business end of the season fast approaches.

They picked up an impressive win against Geelong before the bye, snapping their losing streak at GMHBA Stadium, so should be full of confidence.

But so too should Port Adelaide, who have now won three of the last four games.

They smashed Carlton by 50 points at the weekend to breathe new life into their hopes of making finals this season.

The Power have a poor record against the Lions, but as has been proven already this season, anything can happen in the AFL.

Lions search for consistency

The Lions returned to winning ways against Geelong after losing the previous two games, and now need to kick on.

They are holding on to second spot by the skin of their teeth, and cannot afford any more slip ups if they are to hold on to it.

Brisbane have a great record against the Power, winning seven of the last eight meetings, and are the hot fancies to keep that run going.

They won by 79 points in Adelaide last season, and by 48 points the last time they met at the Gabba.

Port could make more of a fist of it this time, but the Lions are still 5.00 to win by 25-36 points.

Logan Morris was the star in front of goal against Geelong, booting five majors.

Morris can be backed at 9.00 to carry on where he left off by kicking the first goal, or 1.07 to score at anytime.

Port pushing for finals

Port Adelaide have given themselves a chance of making the top eight after winning three of the last four games.

There is still plenty of work to be done however, and four points at the Gabba would go a long way towards aiding their cause.

If they are to make it they have to start beating the teams above them between now and the end of the season.

Brisbane would be a great place to begin, and they can be backed at 8.00 to nick a tight game by 1-12 points.

Mitch Georgiades was on fire against Carlton when booting five goals, to take his tally for the season to 38.

The key forward can be backed at 10.00 to kick the first goal of the game or 1.09 to score at anytime.
