NRL: Broncos eye response after Titans loss

Brisbane Broncos will be keen to get back to winning ways when they face the Dolphins at the Gabba on Saturday night.

The Broncos suffered their fifth defeat of the season when going down to the Gold Coast Titans last week and now need to respond in another derby clash.

It is one of three NRL games taking place on Saturday and looks to be the pick of the day’s fixtures.

Elsewhere, two sides who are battling for the eight, Canberra Raiders and Gold Coast Titans, go head-to-head, while North Queensland Cowboys entertain Wests Tigers.

The Cowboys are also in the mix for finals, while the Tigers are trying to drag themselves away from the lower reaches of the ladder.

These two sides met for the first time earlier in the season and it was the Broncos who came out on top, but the Dolphins certainly gave them a run for their money.

The rivalry between the two sides is already hot and they have played just one game, so we can expect more of the same on Saturday.

Brisbane suffered an 18-12 loss against the Titans in their last game and coach Kevin Walters was far from happy and will be demanding a response.

They will be without star fullback Reece Walsh who has copped a three-match suspension, so Tristan Sailor is set to step in.

The Broncos won the first fixture between the two sides by six points and are priced at 7.00 to do the same again.

The Dolphins have issues of their own and were thrashed 48-20 by Parramatta last week. They have now lost three on the bounce and need to get back on track to keep their top-eight hopes alive.

Defence has been a big issue, conceding 136 points in the last three games and they will need to tighten up.

One positive has been the form of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, who has scored 17 tries from his last 16 games. He is set to switch to left centre from fullback, but is still priced at 2.33 to score a try at anytime.

The Raiders are sitting pretty in sixth spot after edging out the Sydney Roosters by two points last week to pick up their ninth win of the season.

They have won seven of their past eight games against the Titans and Jordan Rapana also loves playing against the Gold Coast, scoring five tries in the past seven meetings.

The winger is priced at 2.10 to keep that run going against the Gold Coast.

Canberra have not been great at GIO Stadium this season, winning just two out of five games - and that will give the Titans hope.

Gold Coast will also be full of confidence following the surprise win over the Broncos last week.

They will also welcome back captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui who was rested against the Broncos last week.

The Cowboys are flying after winning the last three games on the bounce. What is even more impressive is the sides they have beaten - Melbourne Storm, Penrith Panthers and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

They beat the Rabbitohs by 25 points last week, so confidence should be sky-high.

Valentine Holmes has scored seven tries in 10 games against the Tigers and can be backed at 10.00 to score the first on Saturday.

Wests may be struggling this season, but they do have a good record in Townsville - winning three of their past four games there.
