GIO Stadium will be the stage for the first all-Australian showdown of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season as the Brumbies host Western Force in Canberra.
Both teams made positive starts to their respective campaigns in round one, with the Brumbies edging a 36-32 win over Fijian Drua in Suva and Western Force pulling off a remarkable 45-44 comeback win at home against Moana Pasifika.
With both sides looking to maintain their winning starts to the season, points and bragging right will be at stake when the Force head to the capital this weekend.
This has certainly been a one-sided rivalry over the years, with the Brumbies winning 16 of their last 17 encounters against the Force.
GIO Stadium has certainly not been a happy hunting ground for the Force, with the Perth outfit losing in all of their last 11 visits to the capital.
The Brumbies certainly come into this game in form, having won 12 of their last 13 regular season matches in Super Rugby including their last seven on the bounce.
With that in mind, it’s little wonder why the hosts are 1.12 favourites to build on their win over Fijian Drua and claim the victory at GIO Stadium on Saturday.
Ben Donaldson was the star of the show for the Force, as his last-gasp and try and crucial conversion helped them earn that comeback win over Moana.
Conceding 44 points in a Super Rugby game and still managing to win takes some doing but head coach Simon Cron will know his side need to be much better in their efforts without the ball if they are to leave Canberra with a shock victory this weekend.
A win on Saturday would see the Force win their opening two games of the Super Rugby Pacific season for the very first time in their history and they are 6.00 to achieve that feat with victory at GIO Stadium.
