NRL: Bunnies and Broncos set for blockbuster

South Sydney Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos go head-to-head in a blockbuster on the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.

With finals fast approaching, both of these sides will be looking to hit peak form over the remaining eight rounds of the season.

The Broncos are right in the mix to win the minor premiership, while the Rabbitohs have work to do to make sure they book their place in the top eight.

Now State of Origin is out of the way, the Rabbitohs and Broncos will have their star players back, and all the focus will be on the remainder of the NRL season.

The ladder is tight with just six points separating top spot and ninth, so every game is now crucial.

With so much talent on show we could be in for a classic on Friday night.

Big names return for bunnies

The Rabbitohs looked like they could be the team to beat following a strong start to the season but they have since slipped down the ladder.

They had won just one game in four before heading into last weekend’s bye and need to come out firing for the rest of the season.

But there is no doubt, if they click, the Rabbitohs have the talent to go all the way and they are priced at 7.00 to win the grand final.

They have a decent run-in for the rest of the season and there is a real chance to build some momentum heading into finals.

The bunnies have a great record at Sunshine Coast Stadium when winning four from four and they are also handed a huge boost on the injury front.

Gun fullback Latrell Mitchell is set to make a return from the calf injury that forced him to miss the entire State of Origin series. Jai Arrow and Campbell Graham, who has six tries in his last five games against Brisbane, are also back.

Mitchell can be backed at 2.55 to mark his return with a try at Anytime in the game. Graham is the same price to keep his good run going.

Cody Walker, who was outstanding for NSW in game three, is also back, along with fellow Origin stars Damien Cook, Keaon Koloamatangi and Cameron Murray.

Crucial time for Broncos

The Broncos have a side stacked with talent and now the time is approaching for them to really step up to the plate.

It has been a great NRL campaign and they sit second on the ladder, but the business end of the season is approaching and this is when the cream tends to rise to the top.

Brisbane will be keen to prove themselves and a win over the Rabbitohs would set them on their way.

The Broncos were given a lesson by the bunnies back in April after going down 32-6 at Suncorp Stadium and they will be keen to make amends.

They have been in good touch when losing just one of the last six games and need to keep the good run going.

Reece Walsh returns from suspension to give the Broncos a huge boost, while star forward Payne Haas is also back from an ankle injury.

Selwyn Cobbo will be a big threat after scoring five tries in his past four games and can be backed at 9.00 to grab the first on Friday.
