NRL: Bunnies must avoid banana skin

South Sydney Rabbitohs will be out to continue their strong start to the season when they take on a Wests Tigers side that have found some form all of a sudden.

The Rabbitohs and Brisbane Broncos have stood out ahead of the rest so far this season, but there can be no room for complacency against the Tigers.

There are also two other games to look forward to on Saturday as the Cowboys take on the struggling Dragons, while Canberra Raiders take on Parramatta Eels.

The Cowboys will be buzzing after beating the Roosters at the weekend, but that is no use unless they can back it up against the Dragons.

Parramatta continue to struggle and they face another tough assignment against a Raiders side that are going great guns. It is all set up for a super Saturday.

South Sydney are looking the real deal for the premiership this season after winning the last five games on the bounce.

The Storm, Broncos and Panthers are among their victims but they cannot afford to let any complacency creep in when they face the Tigers.

Wests Tigers got the season off to a bad start but have since won their last two games and will be full of confidence going into the game.

Their big improvement is down to the fact new recruits such as Api Koroisau and Isaiah Papali’i are starting to click.

However the Tigers have not beaten Souths at Accor Stadium since way back in 2018. South winger Alex Johnston is a try-machine at Accor Stadium and is priced at 5.50 to grab the first on Saturday.

Cowboys need to back up Roosters rout

The Cowboys were in need of a big lift and they got just that in Magic Round when beating Sydney Roosters 20-6.

They were a couple of minutes away from keeping the Roosters to nil, and at last they have rediscovered the strong defence that made them such a big success last season.

Now they need to back it up with another win, something they have not managed to do so far in 2023. But they have won their last three games against the Dragons and Kyle Feldt has scored seven tries in nine games against them. He is priced at 2.15 to score at anytime on Saturday.

The Dragons have lost the last five games, but the biggest losing margin has been just six points. They lost three of the games by two points and the other by one. So they are not getting smashed every week.

Indeed they would have turned some, if not all, into wins had their kicking game been on-point.

Raiders on a run

The Raiders have jumped into the top eight thanks to four wins on the bounce and they will be confident of making it five against the Eels.

All have been close encounters but that shows the green machine have what it takes to dig deep and get the job done.

They have scored 65 points and conceded 60 in their last two games. Their record against the Eels is not great either, losing five of the last six, but this is a great opportunity to turn the tables.

Parramatta are not the side that made it to last season’s grand final and this year they could do well to make the top eight. In another blow to the Eels, star playmaker Mitchell Moses misses out with concussion.
