A-League: City out to leapfrog Wanderers into top six

Melbourne City have the opportunity to jump above Western Sydney Wanderers and into the top six if they can pick up the win on Tuesday night.

It has been a disappointing season for both sides so far, but it is City who have suffered the biggest fall from grace.

However, they are still in with a good chance of making the top six if they finish strongly and they can be backed at 7.00 to go on and win the grand final.

After returning to winning ways at the weekend, another three points is the order of the day against a Wanderers side with just one win in their last five.

Wanderers are 12.00 to win the grand final, but first they must make sure of a place in the top six.

The games are running out in the regular season and this is a big one.

City looking to kick on

Melbourne City finally returned to winning ways on Saturday, and it was a big one when beating ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix 1-0 at AAMI Park.

The City faithful will be hoping the win can spark them into life for the rest of the season, and silverware is still a possibility.

Samuel Souprayen was the unlikely hero in the win over the Phoenix, and he can be backed at 12.00 to pop up again and score at anytime against the Wanderers.

Jamie Maclaren remains City’s biggest threat however and the strike ace is 1.72 to score at anytime, or 3.75 to grab the first of the game.

In the past, games between these two sides have been high scoring. However in the 2023/24 campaign, the goals have dried up a little for both teams.

City have scored just 30. Only Western United at the bottom of the ladder have scored less.

Under 2.5 goals on Tuesday night can be backed at 2.50, while both teams not to score is available at 2.62.

Wanderers hit the skids at the wrong time

Western Sydney appear to be in turmoil after losing three of the last four games.

The alarm bells will be sounding after they suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Western United at the weekend.

The game before they conceded another four in a 4-1 home defeat against Sydney FC, and there is work to be done to get their season back on track.

Wanderers picked up a 1-0 win against City at AAMI Park in January, and what they would give for another one.

They have slipped down the ladder since that day and a 1-0 Western Sydney win can be backed at 17.00.

Nicolas Milanovic has been one bright spark when scoring three goals in the last three games, and he is priced at 3.20 to score at anytime.
