A-League: City set to test out Phoenix's rise

Saturday is shaping up to be an exciting day in the A-League, with top-four sides Western Sydney Wanderers and Wellington Phoenix both in action.

To add some extra spice to the day, Wanderers take on arch-rivals Sydney FC, in what looks sure to be another feisty encounter.

The Phoenix have also started well and will look to keep the good run going against a Melbourne City side who are stuck in second gear.

To wrap up the action on Saturday, reigning champions Central Coast Mariners will be looking for their first points of the season in another derby clash against Newcastle Jets.

There could be plenty of fireworks on Saturday, with plenty of goals thrown in as well.

Wellington have picked up two big draws away from home at Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory so far this season, along with home wins against Perth Glory and Brisbane Roar.

Star striker Oskar Zawada has also started to hit form and now has four goals for the season. The Polish ace will be key to their chances and can be backed at 2.30 to score at anytime.

For Melbourne City Jamie Maclaren bagged two in the last game and the Socceroos striker is available at 3.75 to score the first of the game.

There are usually plenty of goals when these two sides clash and over 2.5 goals in Saturday’s game can be backed at 1.53.

Central Coast Mariners have had a nightmare start to the season and have yet to pick up a point in four games.

They have scored just two goals and conceded nine to leave them sitting bottom of the ladder.

Discipline also continues to be an issue after Harry Steele was the latest player to be sent off in a 2-1 home loss to Brisbane last start.

The Jets on the other hand are ticking along nicely and picked up a 1-0 win at Western United to move up to seventh spot on the ladder.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos has four goals to his name already this season and can be backed at 2.75 to score at anytime against the Mariners.
