AFL: Collingwood looking to bounce back

Collingwood's premiership defence got off to a bad start with a loss to Greater Western Sydney and they will be out to bounce back against Sydney.

The Pies lost by 32 points against the Giants last weekend and now face another premiership contender in the form of the Swans.

Collingwood are 6.00 to win the grand final in 2024, but Sydney also have their eyes on the prize and can be backed at 9.00.

The Swans began their campaign with a morale-boosting win over Melbourne in the opening round, and another at the MCG really would get people talking.

It is only the second match of a long season, but the Pies cannot afford to slip to back-to-back defeats, so the pressure is on.

What: Collingwood v Sydney
Where: MCG, Melbourne
When: 19:40, Friday 15th March 2024
How to watch: Channel 7, Kayo, Foxtel
Odds: Collingwood 1.52, Sydney 2.55

Pies have a point to prove

Collingwood will have a point to prove after copping some heavy criticism following the defeat against GWS.

The attitude of the Collingwood players has been called into question, and the words ‘grand final hangover’ were thrown about.

Collingwood will be keen to answer the critics, and there will be no better time to do it than Friday night at the MCG.

The two sides last met at the MCG in May 2023 and it was Collingwood who ran out winners by 29 points and the same again would do nicely.

They can be backed at 6.00 to win by 25-36 points.

Darcy Cameron and Bobby Hill both kicked a couple of goals in the defeat to GWS and will be keen to add to that tally.

Hill can be backed at 1.24 to boot another at anytime or 13.00 to get the first goal of the game.

Nick Daicos produced 34 disposals against GWS and can be backed at 2.90 to go a couple better with 35+ against the Swans.

Swans are on a high

Sydney will be delighted with their 22-point win over Melbourne last Thursday night and will be relishing the trip to the MCG.

They have won two of the last three games against Collingwood, but both were at the SCG and a trip to Melbourne is a different kettle of fish.

If Sydney are to leave with a win, it is likely to be a close game and they can be backed at 5.50 to win by 1-12 points.

Tom Papley chipped in with just the one goal against Melbourne and can be backed at 12.00 to grab the first of the night at the MCG.

Chad Warner also caught the eye with 26 disposals and is priced at 1.65 to produce 25+ once again on Friday night.
