Melbourne Renegades have the chance to keep the pressure on at the top of the WBBL ladder when they take on struggling Adelaide Strikers.

The Renegades will be on a high after beating the Melbourne Stars in Saturday’s derby showdown, but they need to back it up in Adelaide.

The Strikers are having a campaign the forget after picking up just one win from five, while they have lost the last three games on the bounce.

They have been left playing for pride and will be desperate to snap the losing streak in front of their own supporters.

Strikers out to snap losing streak

The Strikers slipped to their third defeat on the bounce as the Brisbane Heat beat them by eight runs on Saturday.

Having the won the toss and electing to bowl, the Strikers struggled to contain the Heat, who made 175-6 off their 20 overs.

In response the Strikers were poor and lost their first three wickets for just 16 runs.

From there they were on the back foot, and although Bridget Patterson and Madeline Penna helped to make a game of it lower down the order, it was too little too late.

Patterson made 61 not out, and Penna an unbeaten 59, but the openers will need to get their act together against the Renegades.

Renegades target Strikers double

Melbourne Renegades will get the chance to complete the double when they take on the Strikers in Adelaide.

When the two sides met earlier in the campaign, the Renegades won a thriller by two wickets, and now they will be out for another two points.

Confidence will be high after they picked up a 15-run victory over the Stars in the derby clash on Saturday.

Bowler Charis Bekker was named played of the match after conceding just nine runs off her four overs, taking one wicket in the process.

It contributed to an excellent performance in the field by the Renegades, which also included three run-outs.

Earlier, the Renegades had made 146-6 off their 20 overs, with Alice Capsey coming in as team top batter with 33 runs.

Nicole Faltum made 29 runs, Naomi Stalenberg 26 not out, as the Renegades shared the runs around.
