Australia v Pakistan: Third T20I preview

Australia will be out to complete a series whitewash when they take on Pakistan in the third T20 international in Tasmania on Monday.

The Aussies have bounced back well after losing the ODI series, winning the opening two T20Is with relative ease.

It is the last chance for the white-ball specialists to shine before focus turns to Test cricket, so there is still a lot to play for at Ninja Stadium.

The same can be said for Pakistan, who will be eager to avoid a 3-0 series defeat.

Johnson stars in SCG clincher

Left-arm paceman Spencer Johnson was the star of the show for Australia as they beat Pakistan by 13 runs in the second T20I at the SCG.

After making 9-147 in their 20 overs, Australia had plenty of work to do as Pakistan set about chasing down the total.

However, they came up against Johnson in blistering form, as he produced the best-ever figures by an Aussie fast bowler in T20 international.

Johnson took 5-26 from his four overs to win player of the match, and he will be keen to carry that form into the third match.

Earlier Matt Short finally got among the runs when smashing two sixes and two fours before being dismissed for 32.

Fellow opener Jake Fraser-McGurk will also be feeling better about himself after hitting a six and three fours as he made 20 run from nine deliveries.

Further down the order, all-rounder Aaron Hardie contributed 28, but there will be a number of batters keen to get among the runs on Monday.

Positives for Pakistan in Sydney

It was not all doom and gloom for Pakistan and on another night they could have come out on top at the SCG.

Haris Rauf impressed with the ball when taking 4-22, while Abbas Afridi also took 3-17 as they restricted the Aussie batting line-up.

Mistakes in the field again cost them and that is something they need to continue working on in the third match.

Usman Khan was Pakistan’s top batter with 52 off 38 deliveries, this after the top three in the order made just 24 runs between them.

Irfan Khan was the only other Pakistan batter who registered a significant contribution as he made 37 off 28 deliveries.
