Australia Women v India Women: 1st ODI preview

Australia Women return to action when they face India Women in the first of three One Day Internationals on Friday.

Australia have not been in action since losing their T20 World Cup semi-final against South Africa back in October, and will be keen to return with a bang.

A One Day International series with New Zealand is on the way, but first up India are in town with the first match taking place in Brisbane.

Healy blow for Aussies

Australia have been hit by the news that skipper Alyssa Healy will miss the series against India as she battles with a knee injury.

The injury is not thought to be serious and she is targeting a return to the side for the trip to New Zealand later this month.

In Healy’s absence Tahlia McGrath is set to captain the side, just like she did in the latter stages of the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Georgia Voll has also been called up to make her debut in the side.

The 21-year-old has been in stunning form domestically for Queensland and Sydney Thunder, scoring runs for fun.

She will now be out to grab the chance in the Australian side and will be one to watch for Team – Top Batter.

Voll will open the batting with Phoebe Litchfield, and it has the potential to be a devastating opening partnership.

Sophie Molineux and Darcie Brown have also been named to play despite carrying niggles in the WBBL.

Australia have dominated against India, winning the last four One Day Internationals between the two sides.

The last time they met was in January this year when Australia won by a staggering 190 runs.

Bhatia out for India

India also have injury issues with wicketkeeper/batter Yastika Bhatia ruled out of the series with a wrist injury.

Bhatia had been starring for the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL before suffering the injury and will be a big loss.

India have called up Uma Chetry for her One Day International debut, but she has scored plenty of runs in the T20 format.

Smriti Mandhana is the real danger for India with 570 runs in her last nine matches.
