Australia will be without Josh Hazlewood for the T20 internationals against Scotland after suffering a calf injury in training.
Australia have headed to the UK for a tour that will see them face Scotland and England in a number of T20 and One Day Internationals.
The T20 World Cup is still some time away in 2026, but the preparations are already underway, and a number of players will be fighting to cement their place in the squad.
Australia can be backed at 5.50 to win the T20 World Cup and the journey to Sri Lanka and India in 2026 begins here.
First up is three T20 internationals against Scotland.
Australia will play three T20 internationals against England on 11th, 13th and 15th September.
But before that they will face Scotland in three T20 International, the first of which will take place on 4th September.
All three T20 Internationals against Scotland will take place at The Grange in Edinburgh.
The other two matches will take place on 6th and 7th September.
Riley Meredith has been called into the T20 International squad following an injury to Josh Hazlewood.
Hazlewood has suffered a calf injury in training, and although it is not serious, he will miss the three games against Scotland.
Australia are confident he will be ready for the T20 clashes with England, but he will be rested against Scotland.
Hazlewood was due to feature in all the T20 and One Day internationals on the tour, but his absence means that Meredith will now get his chance to shine.
Meredith has not featured on the international scene for three years and will be desperate to grab his opportunity with both hands.
The Tasmanian has caught the eye of the Australian selectors while impressing in England with Somerset.
He has taken 14 wickets in 12 T20 matches for the county and will now look to carry that form into the games against Scotland.
When on form, Meredith is one of Australia’s fastest bowler and can striker fear into the opposition batsmen.
Australia will also be without fellow quick Mitchell Starc, who will be rested against Scotland, before returning to face England.
Pat Cummins will not play any part in the UK Tour as he remains back in Australia ahead of a busy summer down under.
Cummins is keen to rested and ready for the visit of India, so Mitch Marsh will captain both the T20 and One Day International squads in the UK.
