Hobart Hurricanes host Adelaide Strikers at Ninja Stadium on Sunday, with the hosts hoping to boost their push towards the top end of the Big Bash League ladder.
The Hurricanes have won three of the four games they have played so far this season, while the Strikers have suffered four defeats from six matches played and need to improve to reach the end-of-season finals.
Hobart, who have played fewer games than every other side in the competition, are still hunting a first-ever BBL title, having lost in the final in both 2014 and 2018 - with the second of those losses coming at the hands of the Strikers.
The Hurricanes made a disastrous start to the season as they were bowled out for 74 in a six-wicket loss to Melbourne Renegades, but they have responded with three consecutive victories.
That run started with an eight-wicket win over Perth Scorchers, which was inspired by a superb unbeaten century from opener Mitch Owen, who also slapped a quickfire 33 in the 50-run success over Sydney Sixers on New Year's Day.
In between those two victories, the Hurricanes and Strikers played out a high-scoring thriller at the Adelaide Oval which the Tasmanian side won by just 11 runs after racking up the highest total in the competition so far this season, 5-214.
Aside from Owen and Ben McDermott the Hurricanes could certainly do with more runs from the likes of Matthew Wade and Tim David, while West Indies ace Shai Hope has knocks of 33 and 38 among his four innings to date.
Hope is 2.25 to score 30+ runs on Sunday, with Owen 1.82 to make over 21.5 runs for the hosts, who will hope to welcome back skipper Nathan Ellis after illness.
With the ball the Hurricanes have no bowler conceding more than 9.52 runs an over, even though Englishman Chris Jordan is their leading wicket-taker with just five.
Indian off-spinner Nikhil Chaudhary is conceding at a mere 5.83 runs an over and his 1-15 from three overs, as well 42 from 31 balls with the bat, saw him named as Player of the Match against the Sixers.
The Strikers had seen their season threaten to unravel completely after they lost three games in a row, but a five-wicket victory over the Renegades last time out arrested the slump.
Veteran opener Chris Lynn was the architect of that success as he battered 88 from just 51 balls to help the Strikers get home with almost three overs to spare.
That was the first time that Lynn had gone in first so far this season and that seems unlikely to change for the trip to Tasmania, with the 34-year-old right-hander the leading all-time runscorer in the BBL and having also hit almost 100 more sixes than any other batter.
However, the Strikers also have another big hitter in their ranks in the shape of English all-rounder Jamie Overton, who has crashed eight maximums from 86 balls faced across six matches played.
Pacer Overton is enjoying a superb season to date, having also taken nine wickets, just one less than the team-leading ten of seamer Henry Thornton.
Wrist spinner Lloyd Pope also has nine wickets on his record, so the Strikers are certainly not shot of quality in the bowling department, but they do need more from some of their batters to extend their season into the finals.
There is little to separate these two sides at the Ninja Stadium according to the market, with the Strikers marginal 2.02 outsiders to take the win, having claimed victory in five of the last seven meetings between these two teams.
