The final of Big Bash League 14 takes place on Monday evening at Ninja Stadium in Hobart as the Hurricanes chase a first-ever title against 2016 champions Sydney Thunder.
The Hurricanes were beaten in the final in both 2014 and 2018, by Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers respectively, while the Thunder's only appearance in the showpiece BBL finale saw them defeat Melbourne Stars by three wickets.
The hosts - 1.62 - to be crowned champions, certainly have home advantage to draw upon, having win nine of the 11 previous meetings of these two teams in Hobart, including the last three by comprehensive five, seven and six-wicket margins.
The Hurricanes began BBL14 with a thumping six-wicket loss to Melbourne Renegades, being bowled out for just 74, however, they would not suffer another defeat until their last game of the league stage.
In between they won all seven of the completed matches they played, with only a Sydney washout against the Thunder breaking the sequence of consecutive victories.
They followed up that abandonment with a six-wicket win over the Thunder at Ninja Stadium, in which Tim David smashed a matchwinning 68 from just 38 balls as the Hurricanes got home with just over three overs to spare.
The Canes earned a place in the final with a tense 12-run win over Sydney Sixers in the qualifier, giving them a few days to prepare for the final while the Thunder had to battle through a knockout tie and the challenger semi-final.
David has been key with the bat, smacking 254 runs at a strike-rate of 177.62, while Mitch Owen has been the standout performer, with 344 runs to his name at an SP of an outstanding 191.11.
Owen has made scores of 36, 38 and 44 in his last three knocks, having registered a century against the Scorchers earlier on in the competition, and he is 2.37 to make 30+ runs in the final, while he is 5.50 to be team top batter.
With the ball Riley Meredith has led the way with 13 wickets, seven of which have come in his last four matches and the Australia limited-overs pacer is 2.25 to take 2+ wickets on Monday evening.
The Thunder started the season with four win from their first five games, but rather limped into the finals as their final five matches saw two losses, two washouts and just a single victory over the Scorchers.
However, they regained their mojo at just the right time as they defeated the Stars in a rain-affected knockout and then beat city rivals the Sixers by four wickets to secure a place in the tournament finale.
Skipper David Warner has made the most of playing a full BBL season, totalling 357 runs at a strike-rate of 140.55, while England discard Sam Billings is striking at 132.10 in tallying 251 runs.
Warner's form has dipped in recent knocks as he his best score in his last four innings is 22, but the veteran left-hander will be desperate to make his mark in the final and he is 1.90 to make 30+ runs in the final.
Tom Andrews, Wes Agar and Chris Green have all reached double figures in terms of wickets, while Nathan McAndrew has made a big impact since earning a spot, including taking 5-16 in the knockout success against the Stars - the best figures of BBL14.
McAndrew is 2.62 to take 2+ wickets against the Hurricanes, with Agar 2.50 in the same market.
Thunder head coach Trevor Bayliss has recalled Ollie Davies to the squad for the final after he recovered from a thigh problem, with Blake Nikitaras the player to drop out.
