The Hurricanes had been on a run of good form, winning two on the bounce, before coming unstuck against the Adelaide Strikers on Saturday.

Elyse Villani top-scored with 49, but that was as good as it got and the Canes will need to raise their game on Thursday.

Amy Smith was the bright spark for the Hurricanes when taking 3-18 from her four overs, but the batting performance meant her contribution was in a losing cause.

Hobart do have a good record against the Renegades, winning four of the last five games, but the one defeat did come this season.

It was a tight game with the Renegades reaching their target of 170 with just five deliveries remaining.

Another close battle looks to be on the cards this time as well.

Renegades are bang in form

Melbourne Renegades are the form team of the competition, having won their last four games on the spin.

They have seen off Melbourne Stars twice, Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers to jump to second place on the ladder.

Nicole Faltum was player of the match when these two sides met in October, scoring 43 not out in the five-wicket win.

Faltum remains bang in form and was among the runs again in the latest win over the Stars, finishing on an unbeaten 64.

It earned her another player of the match award and she will be the one to watch once again on Thursday.

Talented all-rounder Hayley Matthews could also be a threat as she has taken 11 wickets over the last seven matches and aslo has a batting average of 32.5.
