Cricket: ODI World Cup - Australia Value Bets

The 2023 Cricket World Cup will soon be underway when Australia will attempt to win the tournament for a sixth time.

Australia’s form heading into the World Cup has not been great, but like they did when winning the T20 World Cup, hopes are high they will pull it all together when it matters on the big stage.

Let’s take a look at some of the betting markets ahead of the 2023 World Cup.

To win outright

Being the home nation, India are the hot fancies to win the World Cup and are priced at 3.00 to go all the way.

Expectations will be high however, and there is a chance the India players could crack under the pressure that will be put on them by the home fans.

England are the reigning champions after winning on home soil in 2019 and are priced at 4.33 to go back-to-back.

Then come Australia, who are priced at 5.50 to win the World Cup.

It is fair to say that their one-day form has not been good heading into the tournament after losing five on the bounce in quick succession.

South Africa won three matches in convincing fashion, while India won two. Australia did bounce back to win their last game against India and hope it will be a springboard to take them on to better things.

There is no doubt that Australia have a squad packed full of world-class players, and if the majority of them click, then there is a chance that World Cup win number six will be on the way.

Top Batter

David Warner’s form has been under the spotlight for some time and there have even been doubts over whether he would open the batting at the World Cup.

However Warner has hit form at the right time. Australia may have struggled but the same cannot be said of Warner, who has been notching some big scores.

He scored 56 in the win over India in the third ODI and can be backed at 15.00 to be the Top Batter at the World Cup.

Warner can also be backed at 3.00 to be Top Team Batter for Australia.

Steve Smith certainly has what it takes to be the World Cup’s Top Batter and can be backed at 21.00.

Smith also looks to be in good touch after smashing 74 against India. The same can be said of Mitch Marsh, who scored 96.

Marsh has been at the top of his game in the white-ball format, skippering the side in South Africa, and is also 21.00 to be Top Batter.

Top Bowler

Mitchell Starc is Australia’s most dangerous strike bowler in white-ball cricket but there have been concerns over his fitness.

But if fit and firing, Starc can be backed at 11.00 to be the Top Bowler at the World Cup.

Starc showed he is starting to find some form when taking three wickets in three overs in the warm-up clash with against the Netherlands.

Glenn Maxwell showed what a huge asset he can be at the World Cup when taking four wickets in the third ODI against India.

The all-rounder can be backed at 21.00 to be Australia’s Top Team Bowler at the World Cup.
