Melbourne Renegades claimed a tense two-wicket home win over Perth Scorchers in December but they face a tough challenge in Tuesday's return fixture in Perth.
The Renegades have lost their last three Big Bash matches and are up against a Scorchers side strengthened by the availability of Test players Mitchell Marsh and Jhye Richardson.
Perth youngster Cooper Connolly has been one of the stars of the 2024/25 competition, scoring 272 runs in six innings and hitting 14 sixes, and Renegades fast bowler Tom Rogers is also enjoying a standout season.
Mitchell Marsh was replaced by Beau Webster in Australia's team for the fifth Test against India and he will be hoping to find some form with the bat in the Big Bash.
Marsh hasn't played for Perth Scorchers since January 2022 and Australia's Twenty20 captain had a tough series against India, scoring six, 47, nine, five, two, four and nought in the first four Tests.
The all-rounder's bowling has been limited by fitness issues so his main role for the Scorchers will be as a hard-hitting top-order batsman and he is 4.00 to be Perth's Top Batter on his return to BBL action.
Marsh has nailed down the number-three spot in Australia's T20 team, scoring nine half-centuries in 40 innings in that position with a strike-rate of 143 runs per 100 balls.
He has hit 60 sixes in those 40 innings and brings yet more power to a Perth batting unit featuring Connolly, the leading six-hitter in the tournament at the start of this week, and opener Finn Allen.
New Zealand international Allen, who could also keep wicket against the Renegades, was dismissed for back-to-back ducks against the Renegades and Brisbane Heat in December before smashing 50 and 68 in his last two appearances.
He hit eight sixes in those two half-centuries and Perth Scorchers are 1.83 to hit more sixes than the Renegades, priced up at 2.30, in Tuesday's clash.
Melbourne Renegades made a solid start to their first Big Bash campaign under captain Will Sutherland, winning two of their first three games of 2024/25.
They bowled out Hobart Hurricanes for just 74 before beating the Scorchers by two wickets in another low-scoring contest.
However, the Renegades have lost their last three games, against Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers and derby rivals Melbourne Stars, and they are 2.40 to stop the rot at the Perth Stadium.
In-form fast bowler Tom Rogers had a rare off-day against the Stars, conceding four sixes and taking only one wicket, and England youngster Jacob Bethell's 49 was the top score of the Renegades' innings.
They have posted only two half-centuries in six games – Tim Seifert's 55 in their opener against the Sixers and Josh Brown's 66 against the Strikers – and it is 2.20 that no Renegades batter scores a fifty in Perth.
