Five-time Big Bash champions Perth Scorchers have made a solid start to their 2024/25 campaign but they will face a good test against an in-form Sydney Thunder side on Friday.
The Scorchers, who have won their first two home matches this season, are 1.72 to complete the hat-trick at Perth Stadium.
They produced a stunning bowling display to set up a seven-wicket win at Adelaide Strikers last time out, reducing their hosts to 8-58 in the 11th over.
But the Thunder should also be in good spirits following three victories in their first four games under the captaincy of David Warner.
Sydney Thunder have lost their last two Big Bash meetings with Perth Scorchers by seven wickets and nine wickets but they could be dangerous underdogs at Perth Stadium on Friday.
The Thunder held their nerve in tight wins over Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades this season and their only defeat came in a thrilling derby clash with Sydney Sixers.
Ben Dwarshuis got the Sixers home off the final ball of the 20th over as the Thunder failed to defend 15 from the last six deliveries of the match.
They responded well to that setback, racking up a matchwinning score of 8-182 against the Stars before beating the Renegades by eight runs.
Paceman Wes Agar ripped the heart out of the Renegades' middle-order, claiming four wickets, after skipper David Warner had made his first major contribution of the season.
Warner batted through the innings, finishing unbeaten on 86 from 57 balls, and he is 4.00 to be Sydney Thunder's Top Batter in Perth.
Four different players have top-scored in the Thunder's first four games. Sam Konstas made 56 against the Strikers before joining up with Australia's Test squad, Cameron Bancroft scored 70 not out in the derby defeat to the Sixers and Sam Billings struck a 39-ball 72 against the Stars.
Billings hit nine fours in that innings, despite facing only one ball in the Powerplay, and he is 8.00 to score the most fours in Friday's showdown.
Cooper Connolly enjoyed a memorable 2024, making his T20 and ODI debuts for Australia in September, and he has played a starring role for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash.
The 21-year-old scored 64, 14, 66 and 37 in his first four matches before producing yet another classy innings in the New Year's Eve win in Adelaide.
Connolly came to the wicket with the Scorchers in a bit of trouble at 2-5 chasing 143 but an unbeaten 48 off 35 balls helped his side cruise to a seven-wicket victory.
He is 4.00 to be Perth's Top Batter and the left-arm spinner could also play a role with the ball, having claimed 3-25 in last season's win against the Thunder.
This term, Connolly has dismissed Stars opener Thomas Rogers and dangerous Renegades middle-order man Laurie Evans and he is 8.00 to be named Player of the Match for the second game running.
