Sydney Thunder Women v Perth Scorchers Women: Big Bash Women preview

Sydney Thunder Women are flying at the top of the WBBL ladder and will look to keep their winning streak going against the Perth Scorchers Women.

The Thunder have won their last four matches on the bounce, and are now the hot fancies to win Big Bash Women 2024.

There is still a long way to go however and they will be keen to keep the foot to the floor.

The Scorchers are also in the mix, but there is a bit of work to be done to ensure they may the top four and play finals.

Sydney Thunder v Perth Scorchers betting preview

Thunder target five on the bounce

After losing their opening game, Sydney Thunder have gone on to win the next four games on the spin.

Their latest success came in the derby clash against the Sydney Sixers, winning by 18 runs to cement their place at the top of the ladder.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, the Thunder made a solid total of 158-6, with Heather Knight scoring 50 runs off 31 deliveries.

Phoebe Litchfield continued to shine with 34, but it was with the ball that the Thunder really stood out.

Samantha Bates won Player of the Match as she took 3-22 off her four overs as the Sixers were bowled out for 140.

Bates will be key again when she faces the Scorchers, as will Taneale Peschel and Hannah Darlington, who both took two wickets each.

The Thunder have won the last two meetings against the Scorchers on home soil, and will be hoping to make it three at Drummoyne Oval.

Scorchers look to bounce back

Perth Scorchers face back-to-back games against the Thunder and the double-header could go a long way towards deciding their fate as they chase the top four.

Following a 72-run loss against Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday, the Scorchers need to bounce back to winning ways.

They were underdone by a masterclass from Lizelle Lee who finished on 150 not-out as the Hurricanes finished on 203-3.

The Scorchers got nowhere near with the run chase and were dismissed for 131.

Chloe Ainsworth was Perth’s stand-out player when scoring 41 runs after earlier taking 2-17 off her four overs.

The Scorchers will have to overcome their travel sickness and raise their game if they are to turn over the Thunder in their own backyard.
