Australia continued their winning streak at the Cricket World Cup with a thrilling five-run victory over New Zealand on Saturday.
After losing their opening two games of the tournament, the Aussies have bounced back in fine style with four wins on the bounce.
It has put them in with a great chance of progressing through to the next stage and one step closer to winning the World Cup.
This is what remains for Australia out in India.
Australia just need to finish in the top four on the ladder to progress through to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
As things stand, thanks to four wins on the bounce, Australia sit in fourth spot on eight points, the same as New Zealand.
Only a superior Net Run Rate has New Zealand ahead of them in third place on the ladder.
More important is the fact that Australia are four points ahead of the chasing pack of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Netherlands, who are fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
Looking upwards, Australia are two points behind South Africa in top spot, and host nation India, who are second.
The biggest shock of the World Cup so far is the performance of current champions England, who sit bottom of the ladder with just two points.
Australia have just three group games remaining and on current form, it would be a surprise if they do not win all three games.
Next up is the a big one against the old enemy England, which will take place on Saturday 4th November.
England may have had a shocker of a tournament but still have a side full of quality and will be playing for pride, particularly against Australia.
Australia then move on to a clash with Afghanistan on Tuesday 7th November, before wrapping up the group stage against Bangladesh on Saturday 11th November.
A place in the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup is completely in Australia’s own hands.
Win all three of their remaining group games and they are definitely there. A win over England could also book their spot if other results go their way.
Australia are priced at 1.015 to make it to the semi-final stage.
Australia are priced at 4.00 to win the World Cup, and after a shaky start, appear to be peaking at just the right time.
In the last three games they have scored heavily with the bat and then backed that up with the ball to get the job done.
The return of Travis Head has strengthened them further and he showed what a class act he is with 109 runs against New Zealand.
Australia’s two defeats have come against South Africa and India and there is a good chance they will need to beat them both to lift the World Cup.
India remain 2.10 favourites to win the World Cup, with South Africa available at 4.50.
