There are four meetings set to take place on Monday, including at Moe, where a ten-race card is scheduled.
They also race at Emerald, Tamworth and Wagga.
Dancinginthedark @ 6.50
Leica Model @ 4.60
Nats Enough @ 5.00
The sixth race at Moe is an interesting Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place over 2075m.
A soft 5 track is expected for the race, with the unexposed Mitchellstown expected to jump as favourite stepping up in distance.
The filly has made just three starts to date, breaking her maiden when jumping as favourite for a 1590m maiden at Wangaratta on her penultimate start.
Trained by Ben, JD & Will Hayes she raced on a soft 5 track that day and went on to lose out by less than half-a-length over 1600m here when last in action just under three weeks ago.
While open to improvement, Blaike McDougall’s mount has to prove her stamina wearing a visor for the first time so DANCINGINTHEDARK is preferred on this occasion.
The pick is proven at this venue, having delivered a victory by over two lengths in a Restricted 58 handicap over 2088m here last month.
The 6.50 six-year-old finished strongly having raced from off the pace that day and similar tactics were used when fourth over 2050m at Mornington subsequently.
Both of those efforts came on soft going and she can be forgiven for her seventh at Sandown subsequently with that effort coming in a 2400m metro contest.
The return to country-level racing is a positive in this event as is the return to a forecast soft 5 surface.
The fifth event at Tamworth is a 1600m Benchmark 66 handicap event, with Foolish expected to feature prominently in the betting.
Kim Waugh’s gelding is a winner this prep having come home over a length clear of his rivals when saluting over 1350m at Wyong last month.
The six-year-old contested a Benchmark 64 handicap that day and raced on a good 4 track when finishing sixth in a similar event over the same track and trip subsequently.
Andrew Gibbons’ mount has a good barrier three from the rail here and she steps up in distance in this contest.
LEICA MODEL is the pick in this event, however, having performed well in finishing in the first two in three of her four starts this prep.
The exception came when contesting a 1420m Benchmark 66 handicap at Grafton earlier this month, with the pick beaten just under five lengths on a good 4 track that day.
It’s worth overlooking that effort, with the daughter of Darci Brahma having completed a Moree double when successful over 1300m eight days earlier.
The 4.60 selection won comfortably that day and it’s possible that the Grafton race came too soon for her.
While the five-year-old has yet to win over this distance, she has placed over it in the past and, with the wet track forecast no issue, she can return to winning ways.
NATS ENOUGH has demonstrated good form at Wagga in the past and he looks capable of recording a win in the penultimate race on their seven-race card.
The race in question is an 1800m Benchmark 58 handicap set to be held on a heavy 8 track, with the pick having won twice so far in 2024.
The most recent of those victories saw him deliver a victory by over a length when racing at this level over 1600m on a good 4 track earlier this month.
The 5.00 gelding went on to finish third when beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths in a similar contest over the same track and trip and he shapes as if the extra 200m here will suit.
Wayne Carroll’s representative should have no issue with the forecast going, having won three times on heavy surfaces in the past and the selection can record his third win of the year.
