AFL: Demons look good five in a row

Melbourne Demons are flying high at the top of the AFL ladder as they prepare to face Brisbane Lions at the MCG on Thursday evening.

The Demons have won four of their opening five games and are one of five teams sitting on 16 points at the top of the ladder.

Melbourne won the premiership in 2021 and can be backed at 6.50 to go on and win it again in 2024.

Another victory over last season’s runners-up, Brisbane, will be the order of the day, but the Lions will have something to say about that.

Boosted by their first win of the season last weekend, Brisbane will be looking to kick on and get back in contention.

They can be backed at 13.00 to go one step further than last year and win the 2024 grand final.

Demons flying high

Melbourne return home following a very successful trip to Adelaide, where they picked up two important wins.

First-up, the Demons knocked over Port Adelaide by seven points and then returned to the Adelaide Oval in Gather Round to beat the Crows by 15.

It means the Demon have now won their last four games on the bounce after losing their season opener to Sydney Swans.

The clash with Brisbane will be their second home game of the season after they beat Western Bulldogs by 45 points in March.

It is likely to be a tighter contest against the Lions and the two teams were involved in a thriller at the MCG in 2023.

Melbourne came out on top 105-104 and are priced at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points on this occasion too.

Bayley Fritsch continues to shine for the Demons and booted three goals in the win over the Crows.

The forward can be backed at 9.50 to kick the first goal of the game, or 1.08 to score at anytime.

Lions up and running

It has been a tough start to the season for the Lions who lost their opening three games of the season.

Not only that, but they have had to deal with rumours suggesting there have been fall-outs within the playing group.

They put all that behind them to pick up their first win of the season last week, when beating North Melbourne by 70 points at Gather Round.

The victory showed the players are united, but they will need to produce more if they are to get back towards the top of the ladder.

Joe Daniher was one of the stars of the show when kicking five goals during the game, and the Lions will need such accuracy once again on Thursday night.

The forward is 11.00 to kick the first goal of the game.

Back in 2022 the Lions did win by 13 points at the MCG and are priced at 8.50 to do the same again and win by 13-24 points.
