NRL: Dolphins boosted by Felise Kaufusi return

The Dolphins will look to continue their solid start to the season when they take Gold Coast Titans in another derby clash on Sunday afternoon.

They have already been involved in two, winning one and losing one, in their inaugural NRL campaign and are the hot fancies to turn over the Titans at Suncorp.

It is sure to be another intriguing battle to get the action underway on Sunday and the return of the influential Felise Kaufusi will help their cause.

The late kick-off on Sunday sees Wests Tigers attempting to pick up their first win of the season against Manly Sea Eagles.

It has been another poor start to the season for the Tigers despite a new coaching regime being in place, and they desperately need something to give themselves a lift.

It will be a tough assignment however against a Sea Eagles side that have started well and will be targeting two points to consolidate their place in the top eight.

The Dolphins have exceeded expectations in their debut campaign and will be in with a shout of making the top eight if they carry on in the same fashion.

They have won four of their opening seven games to sit in eighth spot on the ladder and with Wayne Bennett at the helm you cannot rule out a place in finals.

South Sydney Rabbitohs came out on top 36-14 last week but the Dolphins were leading at half-time, before conceding 30 points after the break.

The week before they beat the North Queensland Cowboys by 10 points in another derby clash and have shown they are capable of giving any side a run for their money.

That was the case when they took on the Broncos and were pushing to win the game until Brisbane grabbed a try on the counter attack to win 18-12.

Conceding points has to be a worry for Bennett though as they have leaked 96 in the last three games and that will give the Titans some hope.

The Titans also like Suncorp, having won two of the past three games at the venue, so they should be right in the mix.

Gold Coast have won three and lost three so far this season, but have made big improvements on 2022.

Justin Holbrook’s side have shown what they can do when beating Melbourne Storm this season, but were disappointing in a 43-26 loss to Brisbane last week.

Winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira is in good touch having scored seven tries in his past five games and can be backed at 1.95 to score at anytime on Sunday.

The Dolphins have been handed a huge boost with the news the influential Kaufusi is back available after serving a one-match suspension.

However Kenny Bromwich must sit out after landing a one-match ban. Gold Coast welcome back key playmaker AJ Brimson from a hamstring injury and winger Jojo Fifita from a knee problem.

Tigers hit by injury blow

The Wests Tigers are at an all-time low and it is going to take something special to overcome the Sea Eagles on Sunday.

Not only are they on a run that has seen them fail to win a game in the last 11, stretching back to the end of last season, they have also been dealt a huge blow on the injury front.

The Tigers have seen five-eighth Adam Doueihi ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL as things go from bad to worse for them.

They did put in a spirited performance in their last game against Parramatta on Easter Monday before losing 28-22 and there were positives from that defeat.

Manly go into the game full of confidence having beaten the Melbourne Storm 18-8 to take them to sixth on the ladder with three wins and a draw from their seven games.

The Sea Eagles will be out to exploit a Tigers defence that has conceded 98 points in the last three games and 160 in all of their six defeats.

And Tom Trbojevic will be the man to help them do that. The gun fullback is back fit this season and has scored five tries in six games. He can be backed at 1.80 to score anytime against the Tigers.
