NRL: Dolphins ready to clash with Titans

Sunday sees two sides desperate to keep in touching distance of the top eight go head to head, as the Gold Coast Titans prepare to host the Dolphins.

Two teams that have been struggling for consistency, there’s little to choose between these sides as they get set to clash at the Cbus Super Stadium.

Titans seeking revenge

The last time these sides met it was the Dolphins who came away smiling as they equalled the biggest premiership comeback with a 28-26 victory at Suncorp Stadium.

Gold Coast were cruising at 26-0 during the first half and were probably wondering just how many points they would win by.

However, as is often the case in the NRL, the momentum of the game shifted spectacularly as the Dolphins came from nowhere to record a dramatic 28-26 victory.

Sunday provides an opportunity for revenge for the Titans. However, it won’t be easy for interim boss Jim Lenihan, as he will be without a host of frontline forwards who will be away on Origin duty.

David Fifita, Moeaki Fotuaika and skipper Tino Fa'asuamaleaui are all unavailable, while in the backs, AJ Brimson is also away with Queensland.

Despite the absence of key personnel, home advantage means the Titans are 1.72 to claim the victory to help them stay firmly in the frame for a top-eight finish.

Pressure on Dolphins to deliver

Sitting down in 12th place on the ladder going into this week’s games, the pressure is starting to mount on the Dolphins to find some consistency or risk seeing the top eight clubs drift away.

There are four points between the Dolphins at the eighth-place New Zealand Warriors going into this next round of games.

Since that remarkable comeback against the Titans at Suncorp, the Dolphins have failed to kick on and have had a 2-6 record since.

The visitors will also be missing players, with Hamiso Tabuia-Fidow on Origin duty, meaning Euan Aitken is set to move into the centres and Kodi Nikorima at fullback.

Veteran forward Felise Kaufusi is out with concussion, but in more positive news, Jarrod Wallace and Anthony Milford both make their return from suspension to feature on the bench.

There certainly seems to be more pressure on the Dolphins to get the win and they are 2.15 to do so on Sunday.

Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako is the leading point scorer in the NRL this season after Round 18, as he’s scored 160 points through 14 tries and 52 goals.

Isaako is available at 1.72 in the Anytime Tryscorer market, while the winger is also 8.50 to score the opening try of the game on Sunday.
