NRL: Easter Bunnies need to step up

South Sydney Rabbitohs are in desperate need of a win when they take on Canterbury Bulldogs in the traditional Good Friday clash.

The Rabbitohs have lost their three opening games of the season and at this rate they will struggle to play finals.

It is still very early days and they can be backed at 2.50 to make the top eight, but they need to turn their form around quickly.

The pressure is mounting on coach Jason Demetriou and another loss against the Bulldogs could put another nail in his coffin.

The Bulldogs can also be backed at 5.50 to play finals and they will be feeling better about themselves after smashing the Gold Coast Titans at the weekend.

The Bunnies have dominated the Good Friday fixture in recent years, but this could be the Bulldogs best chance to break the streak.

What: South Sydney Rabbitohs v Canterbury Bulldogs
Where: Accor Stadium, Sydney
When: 16:05, Friday 29th March 2024

Pressure mounts on Demetriou

The Rabbitohs have had a miserable start to the 2024 season, which hit a low when they were hammered by their arch rivals the Sydney Roosters last Friday.

Souths put in another poor display as the Roosters ran out 48-6 winners, and they will need to dig deep and cut out the errors if they are to turn things around.

They do have a good record in the Good Friday fixture, beating the Bulldogs on the last five occasions, and they need to make it six.

For that to happen they also need big guns like Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker to step up to the plate after a quiet start to the season.

The Rabbitohs have on average scored just 16 points a game this season, while they are conceding 37 points on average. So it is clear they have issues that need resolving quickly.

The Rabbitohs would take any kind of win to get the ball rolling and they can be backed at 6.50 to win by 6-10 points.

Foxx could return for Bulldogs

The Bulldogs beat the Rabbitohs by four points in the last meeting in July 2023 and can be backed at 7.00 to repeat the achievement and win by 1-5 points.

Cameron Ciraldo’s side started the season in poor form when losing the opening two games against the Eels and Sharks.

However, they bounced back in fine style at the weekend to smash the Titans 32-0.

Viliame Kikiau, Reed Mahoney and Jacob Kiraz all capped fine performances by getting their name on the score sheet, and will be key players one again.

There is also a chance that star winger Josh Addo-Carr could return from injury to take his place in the side.

The Foxx loves playing at Accor Stadium, scoring 21 tries in 21 games, and the Bulldogs would love to have him back in the side.
