Australian Grand Prix outright odds

The 2025 Formula 1 season gets underway next Sunday with the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne and McLaren's Lando Norris is the current market leader for the race win.

Englishman Norris has an Aussie as his team-mate and Oscar Piastri is also rated as a decent chance to secure a third Grand Prix victory, having triumphed in both Singapore and Hungary last season.

Piastri is joined in the race by a second Australian, with Jack Doohan having earned a permanent seat at Alpine-Renault after driving in the 2024 season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lando Norris - 2.75

McLaren ace Lando Norris made huge strides forward last season as he won four races, racked up 374 points and finished second in the drivers' standings behind now four-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

He signed off with a victory in Abu Dhabi and there was little doubt that by that point McLaren had the best car in the field, with Red Bull and Verstappen finally seeing an end to their dominance on the horizon.

Norris, now firmly established as the leading world title contender at 2.62, has not enjoyed too much success in Melbourne to date, with his best finish third place 12 months ago.

Charles Leclerc - 3.50

Ferrari begin a potentially exciting new era with the arrival of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, but Charles Leclerc will be desperate to prove that he is still top dog with the Scuderia.

Now entering his seventh season with Ferrari, the Monegasque, like Norris, enjoyed a fine 2024 campaign as he finished in third place in the drivers' standings - winning three races and totalling 356 points.

His best-ever season came back in 2022 when he was the nearest challenger to the all-conquering Verstappen and he won the Australian Grand Prix that season, while 12 months ago he claimed second place at Albert Park.

Max Verstappen - 5.00

Reigning four-time world champion Max Verstappen enters the season as only second favourite for a fifth straight title, at 4.33, with Red Bull having been unable to see off the challenge of McLaren in the constructors' standings last season.

Verstappen had been in class of his own throughout the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons, but last year, after triumphing at seven of the first ten races, he won only twice more in 14 further races.

It seems strange to say that Verstappen has something to prove, but that appears to be the case for the 2023 Australian Grand Prix winner.

Lewis Hamilton - 7.50

Lewis Hamilton opens a new chapter in his spectacular career as he joins Leclerc at Ferrari and the early signs are that the seven-time world champion is enjoying the change of scenery after ending his long-term association with Mercedes.

Hamilton won the Australian Grand Prix way back in 2008 while with McLaren and repeated that victory with Mercedes seven years later, while the Englishman finished in second place for four consecutive years between 2016 and 2019.

There will be many eyes on Hamilton at Albert Park this time around, to see now only how he fares overall, but how he performs compared to his new team-mate Leclerc.

Oscar Piastri - 7.50

Australia has a genuine contender to win their home Grand Prix for the first time since it became part of the F1 circus back in 1985, with Oscar Piastri hoping to take the chequered flag for McLaren.

The 23-year-old Melbourne native finished fourth in the drivers' standings last season, with both he and team-mate Norris regularly turning the tables on Red Bull and Verstappen as the season progressed.

Race victories in Singapore and Hungary were the highlights for Piastri, who will want to at least improve on his fourth place in Melbourne 12 months ago.
