FA Cup preview: Spurs ready for Burnley battle

The Premier League giants enter the FA Cup in the third round stage this week, with Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur preparing to host Burnley in north London.

After a five-match winless run, Spurs have managed to overcome that dip in form to win four of their last five games in the Premier League.

Expect Postecoglou to shuffle the pack as his side welcome a Burnley outfit that have won just two of their last 14 outings in all competitions.

These two sides have already met in the Premier League at the start of this season, with Tottenham running out 5-2 winners at Turf Moor back in early September.

Heung-min Son bagged a hat-trick that day, as Spurs ran riot in Lancashire in what was an impressive start to Postecoglou’s spell at Tottenham.

An unbeaten run at the start of the campaign raised expectations in certain quarters of north London but a five-match winless run did bring Spurs fans back down to earth.

Tottenham certainly will be in the mix for a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, while Postecoglou would love a crack at winning the FA Cup this year.

Expect the Aussie tactician to make some changes to his starting lineup but they should have too much for Burnley, who have bigger fish to fry as they find themselves in the midst of a relegation dogfight.

Spurs are firm favourites at 1.50 for the win in 90 minutes, while Burnley are 5.50 to spring a major surprise at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

OddsArsenal 2.00, Draw 3.90, Liverpool 3.40

In arguably the pick of the third-round fixtures, Premier League title contenders Arsenal and Liverpool go head-to-head at the Emirates in the early hours of Monday morning.

These sides met in the Premier League on 23rd December at Anfield, with the Gunners managing to come away from Merseyside with a 1-1 draw.

With players going away for the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohamed Salah will be a notable absentee from the Liverpool squad for this one.

Managers Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp will likely tinker with their sides but both will be eager to see their FA Cup journey continue beyond the third round.

Arsenal are 2.00 favourites on home soil to win in regulation time, while Liverpool are available at 3.40 to claim the victory.

A draw, which has occurred in the last two meetings between these sides, is currently 3.90.
