NRL: Finals spots on the line for Eels and Titans

The race to finish in the top eight and play NRL finals is on as Parramatta Eels and the Gold Coast Titans go head-to-head on Sunday evening.

As low as 14th spot on the ladder is still in the mix to make the top eight, so the game between the Eels and Titans is massive for both sides.

They both have a chance to play finals, but the race to get there is as tight as can be, so every point will be crucial between now and the end of the season.

There are just seven weeks of the NRL regular season to go and now is the time to hit form and book your place in the top eight.

The Eels and Titans head into the game on the back of defeats last week, so it is even more important they bounce back.

Eels need to respond

The Eels were disappointing to say the least last week when they were hammered on home turf by New Zealand Warriors.

They had been on a great run of form before that when winning five games on the bounce, and the 36-point loss stopped them in their tracks.

Too many errors, missed tackles and poor discipline cost the Eels and they will be keen to make it up to the home support against the Titans.

Home games are fast running out for Parramatta, so it is important they pick up a big two points here, as next up they must travel to North Queensland Cowboys and Melbourne Storm.

The Eels do have a good record against the Titans when winning seven of the past eight, and the fact that the Gold Coast do not travel well, also weighs in their favour.

Indeed, the Titans have only won three of their nine away games this season.

Two of those wins were against Brisbane Broncos and Manly Sea Eagles though, so it shows what they are capable of when they get their act together.

Eels fullback Clint Gutherson will be keen to make up for his lack of minutes in State of Origin when he takes to the field.

He should be fresh as a daisy and Gutherson can be backed at 2.55 to score a try at anytime.

Big guns back for Titans

The Titans have lost the last two games against Canberra Raiders and the Dolphins, but both games could have gone either way.

Four points was the largest losing margin and the Titans will be out to bounce back. It could be close again and despite their poor away record they are priced at 9.00 to win by 1-5 points.

If they are to get the job done, then they will need Brian Kelly’s good form against the Eels to continue.

The winger has scored six tries in eight games against them and is priced at 21.00 to grab the first on Sunday.

They will also be boosted by the return of their Origin stars, with AJ Brimson, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Moeaki Fotuaika and David Fifita all named to play.
