A-League: Fornaroli absence may hurt Victory

Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners will be looking to keep the heat on at the top of the A-League, while Sydney FC and Adelaide United push for the top six.

Victory, who sit in second spot, travel to take on Newcastle Jets, while the Mariners in third are away at Adelaide.

The Mariners can be backed at 6.00 to win the minor premiership, but Victory are the hot fancies at 3.25 to finish the season at the top of the pile.

Sydney FC have a must-win game against Western United in Hobart and are priced at 1.72 to finish in the top six and play finals.

Western sit rock bottom of the A-League ladder and are 1.80 to stay there.

Western have failed to win in the last five games but there was only one goal in it when they lost to Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City.

They also fought out a 3-3 draw against Macarthur and were only denied three points when Macarthur scored at the death.

Daniel Penha grabbed a brace in that game and is 3.50 to score at anytime against Sydney.

Sydney have won three of the last five games, including a 4-2 victory over Western United at Allianz Stadium.

Over 2.5 goals again, can be backed at 1.44.

Melbourne Victory continue to draw too many games, including the last three, and now sit two points behind leaders Wellington Phoenix.

The last three have been 1-1 draws against the top sides and the same scoreline against the Jets is priced at 7.50.

They are missing striker Bruno Fornaroli badly, the goals have dried up a touch while he is away on international duty.

Daniel Arzani is among the players trying to fill the void and is 3.40 to score anytime.

The Jets have won just one game in the last five, but that was at home, when they beat Brisbane Roar 3-1.

The Mariners remain bang in form, having won four out of the last five games to move up to third place on the ladder.

They beat Brisbane Roar 2-0 last start with Angel Torres among the goals once again and the striker can be backed at 7.50 to score the first goal of this game.

The two sides met in the opening game of the season at Coopers Stadium with Adelaide winning 3-0, but a lot has changed since then.

The Reds have won just one game in the last five and have work to do if they are to play finals.

They are three points behind the top six and are 2.10 to make it.
