A-League: Fornaroli return massive for Victory

Saturday is shaping up to be an exciting day in the A-League, with the top four teams all in action.

Five points separate ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix and Macarthur FC in fourth spot, with Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory sandwiched in between.

Victory remain the hot fancies at 3.50 to win the minor premiership and the return of striker Bruno Fornaroli from international duty will boost their chances.

Victory are at home to Macarthur in the game of the day, while Phoenix entertain Western United and the Mariners are at home against Sydney FC.

Melbourne City face a trip to Brisbane Roar as they look to climb closer to the top of the ladder.

It is top versus bottom in the first game of the day, but there can be no complacency from the Phoenix.

They have drawn the last two games, scoring just one goal, and could do with a convincing win against a Western side that have lost 10 games and conceded 31 goals.

Phoenix won 1-0 at Western back in December and it could be another tight game on Saturday.

Melbourne Victory star striker Bruno Fornaroli has been away with the Socceroos at the Asian Cup and will make his return against Macarthur.

Fornaroli had scored 13 goals before jetting off and Victory need him after drawing their last four games on the bounce.

The strike ace can be backed at 1.66 to mark his return by scoring at anytime.

Macarthur have a strike ace of their own in the form of Valere Germain, who scored a hat-trick in the 4-3 win over Western Sydney Wanderers at the weekend.

The Frenchman is 3.75 to score at anytime.

City continue to struggle

Melbourne City have won just one game in the last four and they slipped to a 4-2 defeat away at Perth Glory in their last outing.

Everything clicked the last time the two sides met in December, with City romping to an 8-1 win and Jamie Maclaren completing a hat-trick.

The strike ace can be backed at 4.00 to score the first goal of the game at Suncorp against Brisbane Roar.

Brisbane are struggling, but showed great spirit when holding Wellington Phoenix to a 1-1 draw in their last game.

Mariners in tip-top form

Central Coast Mariners remain the form team in the competition and picked up a solid 0-0 draw against Wellington Phoenix last start.

Back on home soil they will be out for the three points against a Sydney FC side who have drawn their last two games.

There is usually plenty of goals when these two sides meet and over 2.5 in the game can be backed at 1.47.

Mariners striker Angel Torres is also in prolific form and is priced at 2.75 to score at anytime.
