There are four meetings set to take place on Tuesday, including at Grafton, where nine races are scheduled.
Sizzling Gal @ 5.00
Be Real @ 3.20
Henry's Blade @ 4.60
The feature race on the Grafton card is the 1600m Lismore Cup, an open handicap set to take place over 1600m.
A soft 6 track is expected for the race, with Menazzi expected to jump as favourite for the Stuart Kendrick stable.
The six-year-old has been in good form this prep registering four consecutive third place finishes, including at both Doomben and Eagle Farm.
The most recent of those efforts saw the gelding beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a competitive 1600m handicap there last month.
The son of Pride Of Dubai raced close to the speed that day and while he has gone well when ridden with more restraint in the past, barrier fourteen isn’t ideal here.
The five-year-old SIZZLING GAL is preferred on this occasion, with the mare having delivered a two-length victory at Doomben three starts back.
The selection raced over this distance on a soft 6 track when racing in a Class 6 handicap on that occasion with the mare defying a slow start and having to race wide throughout that day.
The 5.00 mare has gone on to register good efforts in defeat at the same venue in both subsequent appearances, including when fourth in a Benchmark 78 handicap over 1615m last time.
The pick was beaten just over one-and-a-half-lengths when jumping from barrier eight that day and she is often ridden from off the pace.
Jockey Andrew Mallyon is booked to ride Liam Birchley’s representative and Sizzling Gal looks up to registering a win from barrier 10.
The sixth race at Newcastle is a 1500m Benchmark 68 handicap expected to be held on a soft 6 track.
Magicon is expected to have his supporters, having demonstrated a liking for wet tracks in his last prep.
The four-year-old completed a Wyong double when victorious over 1600m on a heavy 10 track in a Class 1 handicap at the start of May.
Two placed efforts followed that, including when runner-up over 1890m here on his penultimate start with the gelding spelled following a Randwick third over 2000m in June.
While open to improvement on just his sixth career start, BE REAL, one of two female runners in the field, is the selection here.
Trained by Brad Widdup, the four-year-old demonstrated a liking for this venue when registering an impressive victory in a 1600m maiden on a soft 7 track at Newcastle in May.
A good third when beaten just over half-a-length over the same distance on a soft 6 track at Warwick Farm followed prior to doubling her career tally with a Hawkesbury win.
That Hawkesbury triumph came on a good 4 track when racing in a 1800m Class 1 set weights contest, so any drying of the ground before race time would prove no issue.
The daughter of Iffraaj came close to registering a metro race success when meeting trouble in running prior to finishing a close second over 2000m at Randwick in June.
The pick drops in grade, having contested a Benchmark 72 handicap on a heavy 9 surface that day, and she is taken to return with a win following a couple of barrier trial efforts.
The sixth race at Tatura is a 1450m Benchmark 58 handicap, with HENRY'S BLADE set to tackle winners for the first time following a maiden win last time.
That victory saw the four-year-old get home by a narrow margin when contesting a 1356m contest held on a good 4 track at Donald.
The 4.60 pick had to survive a protest when saluting that day with the runner-up boosting the form with a victory in the interim.
Trained by Ben, JD & Will Hayes, the selection had place third at Bendigo over 100m on his previous starts and he should have no issues with the step up in distance here.
An inside barrier is a positive in this contest and, with a visor replacing the blinkers worn last time out, he looks capable of completing a double under Cory Parish.
