With the Shriners Children’s Open on the PGA Tour and the Andalucia Masters on the DP World Tour taking place this week, here’s a closer look at the Aussie hopefuls going into both tournaments.
Cameron Davis and Aaron Baddeley are the two players who will be flying the flag for Australia in the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada this week.
Sydney’s Davis is Australia’s best hope of a victory in this event, with the 29-year-old earning the second of his two PGA Tour wins earlier this year at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
That victory in June was Davis’ second victory in the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the Aussie is still seeking a first PGA Tour win away from that particular competition.
Davis has an opportunity to do just that at TPC Summerlin this week, as he’s 38.00 to claim the title in a field that doesn’t boast many big names.
Tom Kim is the pre-tournament favourite at 14.00, while the second-favourite is Taylor Pendrith at 28.00.
A strong start in Vegas can see Davis challenge here and he’s 8.00 to finish in the top five, 4.50 in the top 10 and 2.62 to finish in the top 20.
Compatriot Baddeley has four PGA Tour wins to his name but the last of those came back in 2016 with victory at the Barbasol Championship.
Baddeley is 751.00 to win the Shriners Children’s Open, 67.00 to finish in the top five, 29.00 in the top 10 and 11.00 to finish in the top 20.
When it comes to the Andalucia Masters, Spanish star Jon Rahm is the firm favourite to claim the title at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.
The home favourite is 4.00 to finish top of the leaderboard, while second-favourite Rasmus Hojgaard is 18.00 to win the event.
Looking at Australian hopefuls looking to cause an upset, David Micheluzzi is the shortest price at 141.00 to claim the title.
The 28-year-old from Melbourne has won four events on the PGA Tour of Australasia but is still seeking his first win on the PGA Tour.
Other Australian hopefuls playing at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande this week are Tom Power Horan and Andrew Martin, who will be relishing the chance to mix it with the likes of Rahm and Hojgaard.
