The DP World and Asian Tour arrive in Queensland this week, with the co-sanctioned Australian PGA Championship attracting a strong field.
The last six winners have all been Australians and there are a whole host of Aussie players teeing it up in 2024, with a tournament purse of AUD $2million.
Cameron Smith goes in search of his fourth PGA title, while Min Woo Lee returns to defend the title he won at Royal Queensland 12 months ago.
You have to go back 15 months for the last time Cameron Smith won a tournament, but his course knowledge gives him every chance of ending that run this week.
The 2022 Open champion has struggled for form in the last year and heads to Brisbane having finished seventh in the LIV Golf standings.
Smith has won this tournament three times in the last six years, with his last success coming in 2022, when he won by three shots.
The Queenslander goes into his home event heading the betting and looking to match Robert Allenby’s achievement of winning the PGA title for a fourth time.
Smith, who won his other two PGA tournaments at Royal Pines, is one of four different Australian stars to take top spot in the last four years.
Min Woo Lee is still looking for his first success on the US Tour, but he has three titles on the DP World Tour and is seeking a third win in Australia.
The 26-year-old fired a 20-under-par total when lifting the trophy last year, beating Rikuya Hoshino by three shots.
Lee secured top-30 finishes in three of the four Majors this year and has moved into the top-50 in the world rankings.
The Aussie has shown some consistent form in the last two weeks, finishing T23 at the Abu Dhabi Championship with four sub-70 rounds.
He followed that up with a T24 spot at the DP World Tour Championship, so heads to Brisbane in an upbeat mood.
Lee has also been selected in the standout group over the first two days, teeing it up with Cam Smith and Jason Day.
One Australian who looks to have a good chance at a bigger prize is David Micheluzzi, who is four-time winner on the Tour of Australasia.
The 28-year-old has recently moved into the world’s top 250 players and heads to Brisbane off the back of a T37 finish at the Abu Dhabi Championship.
The man from Melbourne finished in the top-20 at this event last year, with three rounds of 68 helping him claim a tie for 18th.
Micheluzzi has four top-10 finishes to his name on the DP World Tour this year and will feel he can challenge for top spot this week.
