The DP World Tour season draws to a close with the Tour Championship being played at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai and there are two Australian golfers among the 50-player elite field.
Three-time winner Jon Rahm and Swedish ace Ludvig Aberg both qualified for the finale but will be absent, meaning that there are chances to shine for Connor Syme and Francesco Laporta.
Australian will be represented by Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee, while the overall Race to Dubai title is a two-way scrap between Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence, with the Northern Irishman holding a commanding advantage.
Australia are yet to have a winner of the DP World Tour Championship since its inception back in 2009 and Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee are the players hoping to change that situation this week.
Scott, rated at 29.00, heads into the tournament in 16th place in the rankings, having finished down in 46th place at the Abu Dhabi Championship last week, although a closing 65 showed that there is not too much wrong with his game at the moment.
Amazingly, Scott has not tasted victory since his Genesis Invitational triumph on the PGA Tour back in February 2020 and the former Masters champion will be eager to impress on the Earth Course this week.
Compatriot Lee is a 23.00 shot heading into the action in Dubai, having earned a T23 finish at the Abu Dhabi Championship, where on a weekend of low scoring he recorded four rounds in the 60s.
The 26-year-old Perth native has endured a difficult season, with many having tipped him to go on towards the very top of the game.
A T5 at the 2023 US Open marked him out as a major talent, but this year he was unable to break the top-20 at any of the four Majors and he even missed the cut at the Open Championship.
Both Australians will be hoping to end their campaigns on a positive note, but history suggests that neither will be holding aloft the trophy come Sunday.
McIlroy, 4.50 outright, heads into the tournament needing to finish in 11th or better to ensure that he is the European champion golfer for a sixth time, moving him level with the late, great Seve Ballesteros.
Lawrence is the only player who can stop him and he is rated at 29.00 to win the DP World Tour Championship and become the first South African to put his name on the trophy.
It seems highly unlikely that McIlroy will fail to seal the deal, but there is still plenty to play for, with ten PGA Tour cards up for grabs, as well as the winner's cheque of $3,000,000 to strive for.
Dane Nicolai Hojgaard is the reigning champion, but he has missed out on a place in the season finale this time around, leaving a couple of Englishmen as major challengers to the strong favourite McIlroy.
Both Tyrrell Hatton (7.00) and Tommy Fleetwood (8.50) are two-time runners-up at the DP World Tour Championship, while both enjoyed strong showings at the Abu Dhabi Championship - finishing second and T6 respectively.
Chilean Joaquin Niemann is also one to watch, with the 13.00 shot having enjoyed a fine season on the LIV Golf Tour, just missing out on the outright individual crown to Spanish ace Rahm.
Rory McIlroy - 4.50
Tyrrell Hatton - 7.00
Tommy Fleetwood - 8.50
Joaquin Niemann - 13.00
Shane Lowry - 15.00
Matt Wallace - 19.00
