The second Major of 2025 is the PGA Championship, which takes place at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, where newly crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy has an excellent record.
Having completed a career grand slam with a play-off victory over Justin Rose at Augusta National, two-time PGA champion McIlroy is already is confident mood, but his record at Quail Hollow only adds to the positive vibe.
The Northern Irishman is a four-time winner of what was known as the Wells Fargo Championship and those past efforts are a big reason why he is joint market leader with world number one Scottie Scheffler.
Scottie Scheffler - 5.50
Rory McIlroy - 5.50
Bryson DeChambeau - 11.00
Justin Thomas - 17.00
Xander Schauffele - 19.00
Jon Rahm - 19.00
Leading Australians:
Jason Day - 67.00
Min Woo Lee - 71.00
Cameron Smith - 91.00
Scottie Scheffler - 5.50
Scottie Scheffler remains the undoubted number one player in the world and a dominant eight-shot victory at the Byron Nelson earlier this month showed exactly what he is capable of when his game is in top order.
Scheffler registered no fewer than seven tournament wins in 2024 and, after a slow start to the current campaign due to injury, he is starting to click and a record of four top-ten finishes in five PGA Championship outings suggests that he will be a massive contender.
Fourth place at the Masters also showed that there is every reason to expect Scheffler to be the player to beat, along with McIlroy.
Rory McIlroy - 5.50
Rory McIlroy has been the talk of the town since his nerve-shredding Masters success, a victory which wiped away years of unsuccessful toil in pursuit of a Green Jacket.
Prior to his Augusta triumph, McIlroy had gone more than a decade without a Major title, but, with that monkey now off his back, he may be much more relaxed as he bids to join Nick Faldo on six Major successes - the record for a European golfer in the modern era.
The Northern Irishman has previous at the course on the PGA Tour and also won the PGA Championship in both 2012 and 2014, so the omens are certainly in his favour ahead of the action at Quail Hollow.
Bryson DeChambeau - 11.00
If the outright market is an accurate reflection, then Bryson DeChambeau is the standout main challenger to Scheffler and McIlroy.
Like McIlroy, DeChambeau's length off the tee should be a major advantage at Quail Hollow and the 31-year-old American has shown that playing on the LIV circuit is no barrier to continuing to shine at the Majors.
He began 2025 with a T5 finish at the Masters, having sparkled in 2024 by finishing T6 at Augusta, second at the PGA Championship and then claiming a second Major title of his career at the US Open.
DeChambeau heads to North Carolina having recently claimed a two-shot victory at LIV Korea, so he is certainly in the sort of form to make him a genuine contender.
Jason Day - 67.00
Jason Day is the leading Australian name in the outright market, with Min Woo Lee at 71.00 not far behind the 2015 PGA Championship winner.
Day finished T8 at Augusta last month, while he also has two other top-ten finishes to his name already this season and will hope to emulate McIlroy is ending a lengthy wait for further Major success.
Meanwhile, Lee claimed a first PGA Tour victory in late March at the Houston Open, winning by one shot and holding off Scheffler in the process.
To date Lee has a disappointing record at the Majors, with his sole top-ten finish a T5 at the US Open 2023, while 49th place at the Masters earlier this year was far from spectacular.
