After just falling short at the BMW Championship last week, Australia’s Adam Scott will be hoping to be in the mix once again in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.
Scott played some beautiful golf at Castle Pines near Denver last week and on the final day he did manage to pull level with eventual winner Keegan Bradley on the opening hole.
However, disaster stuck as three straight bogeys from the 10th hole onwards saw Scott fall behind and the Adelaide-born star could not make up the ground on the final holes.
Finishing tied second when there was an opportunity for the win will have hurt Scott but the 44-year-old has the experience to put that disappointment behind him and build on the positives for this week’s Tour Championship at East Lake.
Back in the mix for a prestigious prize, it was great to see the 2013 Masters winner Scott challenging on the final round at the BMW Championship in Colorado.
Last winning on the PGA Tour back in February 2020 with victory at the Genesis Invitational, the Australian has been determined to end that wait for silverware.
Scott came close at Castle Pines but his focus will have quickly shifted to East Lake and the Tour Championship, an event he is 61.00 to win and 46.00 to finish in the top five.
With so many big names competing this week, it will take another outstanding performance to be in the mix come the business end of the event but Scott showed in Colorado he is capable of putting strong rounds together.
There’s little surprise to see world number one Scottie Scheffler as the 2.10 favourite to claim the Tour Championship title at East Lake.
The 28-year-old has won an impressive six PGA Tour competitions this year, with his most recent coming in June with victory at the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler’s frightening consistency means the American should be in the mix once again at East Lake in Atlanta Georgia.
Countryman Xander Schauffele is not far behind in the winner odds, at 3.25 to be crowned champion in this one.
The prices quickly jump up, with third-favourite Hideki Matsuyama from Japan at 11.00 and Northern Ireland star Rory McIlroy at 19.00 to claim the title.
McIlroy does have a good record in this particular tournament, having won the Tour Championship on three occasions in 2016, 2019 and most recently in 2022.
Norway’s Viktor Hovland is the defending champion after his impressive five-stroke victory last year and the Olso star is a generous price of 61.00 to retain his Tour Championship title.
