Australian Racing: Heleva Deel to deliver at Ipswich

There are four meetings set to take place on Monday, including at Ipswich where a seven-race program is scheduled.

Action also takes place at Gunnedah, Taree and Werribee.

Race 4 Ipswich

Heleva Deel @ 4.80

Race 7 Werrbiee

Tiz Time @ 8.50

Race 6 Taree

Bold Hoi Ho @ 3.00

Deel has Heleva chance at Ipswich

The most valuable race on the Ipswich card is the fourth race, a Benchmark 72 handicap set to take place over 2150m.

Prime Impact is expected to have his supporters for the Kris Lees team, having registered solid efforts in two starts since being freshened.

The gelding registered a fourth in a 1540m Benchmark 65 handicap on the polytrack at Gold Coast in the first of those.

The four-year-old followed that up with a third-place finish in an 1800m Class 3 handicap at Sunshine Coast on 25th April.

That Sunshine Coast event came on a heavy 8 track, however, the quicker going forecast here should be no issue, with himhaving saluted on a good 4 track at Gosford in July 2023.

However, HELEVA DEEL is the pick, having recorded some big efforts this prep including when fourth in a metro contest over 1615m at Doomben in February.

The 4.80 pick contested a Benchmark 75 handicap on a good 4 track that day and the mare registered a win at Toowoomba two starts later.

The daughter of Dundeel triumphed by a narrow margin in a Benchmark 70 handicap over 1920m at Toowoomba on that occasion.

A fourth, beaten just over two lengths in a 2400m Benchmark 78 handicap held on a soft 5 track at Eagle Farm, followed and she tackles an easier contest here.

Cody Collis’ mount has a good barrier in three and looks capable of recording her second win of 2024.

Time to resume with Werribee win

The penultimate race on the Werribee card is an 1100m Benchmark 64 handicap for fillies and mares.

The 1100m contest is expected to see Anthony & Sam Freedman’s Elba prove popular with Damian Lane set to ride.

The youngster demonstrated plenty of ability in 2023, including when a close second over 1200m at Moonee Valley in a maiden contest at the start of November.

The switch to a wet track appeared to suit when the filly broke her maiden by a narrow margin in a 1000m contest at Cranbourne when racing first up this prep.

Successful on a soft 6 surface that day she has a wide barrier to overcome here and preference is for TIZ TIME.

The filly belied her starting price of $16 to lose out by less than half-a-length when runner-up in a 1200m maiden at Pakenham on debut in April last year.

The 8.50 three-year-old proved that that effort was no fluke when going one better in a similar contest over the same track and trip the following month.

While the selection has been off for almost a year since that success, she has joined a good stable in that of Lloyd Kennewell & Lucy Yeomans.

Michael Dee is due to ride here and, with a fair barrier in eight, she is selected to resume with a win.

Bold for Taree triumph

Sally Taylor saddles BOLD HOI HO in the penultimate race on the Taree card.

The gelding has shown a liking for testing conditions in the past, which should prove helpful with a heavy 10 surface expected for the 1400m Benchmark 58 handicap.

The five-year-old placed third when racing at this Benchmark 58 level over 1300m at Armidale three starts back.

The 3.00 selection was beaten less than a length on a soft 7 track and registered his best effort in two starts since when successful over the same track and trip on 15th April.

Jockey Cobi Vitler takes one and a half kilograms off the gelding’s back and the son of Niagara looks capable of making his second start at this track a winning one.
