The race was renamed The Gold Rush in 2022.

Munhamek won the 2023 edition of The Gold Rush for trainer Nick Ryan and jockey Damien Oliver.

One of the most notable winners of The Gold Rush was Watermans Bay, who went back-to-back in 2014/15.
