Premier League: How Spurs look after four EPL games

Ange Postecoglou's reign at Tottenham Hotspur could not have got off to a better start and the Aussie is already well on his way to cult status with the Spurs faithful.

It is still very early days of course and things can change quickly, but so far so good for ‘Big Ange’ and Spurs as they enter the first international break of the Premier League season.

Unbeaten start is impressive

Tottenham have got their Premier League season off to an electric start and are unbeaten in the four games they have played so far.

Postecoglou’s side have won three and drawn one to leave them on 10 points and sitting in second place on the ladder.

They are just two points behind leaders Manchester City and level on points with Liverpool, West Ham and Arsenal.

City are still the hot fancies at 1.40 to win the Premier League title, while Tottenham can be backed at 21.00 to go on and cause a huge upset.

Wins follow opening draw

Tottenham began the season with a solid 2-2 draw away at Brentford on the opening day of the season, before going on to win the next three games on the bounce.

Postecoglou got the perfect start on home turf with an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United and that was followed up by two wins on the road.

Spurs kept another clean sheet when winning 2-0 at Bournemouth, before romping to a 5-2 win at Burnley in their last game, with Son Heung-min scoring a hat-trick in the latter.

Summer signing James Maddison has also been an instant hit, netting against both the Cherries and the Clarets.

If Tottenham are to have a successful season, then wins against the likes of Bournemouth and Burnley are a must and it is important they were put to the sword.

It was also crucial that the north Londoners got off to a good start to build momentum and excitement and they have done just that.

Postecoglou's style paying off

Tottenham’s style of play which has already been dubbed ‘Angeball’ is attractive to the eye and has been very effective so far.

When quizzed about the style, Postecoglou joked that he is just copying Pep Guardiola at Man City.

The styles are not exactly the same, but Spurs’ game is based on the players being fluid, but holding a solid core structure at the same time.

They play free-flowing attacking football and have scored 11 goals so far this season, conceding just four.

Derby test around the corner

The honeymoon period could be over in September and Tottenham’s top-four credentials are in for a tough examination.

They begin the month with another game they will be expected to win, Sheffield United at home.

Spurs are priced at 1.30 to get the win, with the draw available at 5.25. The newly-promoted Blades can be backed at 10.00 to cause a big upset.

Then, it is one of the biggest games of the season and Postecoglou’s first taste of a North London derby against arch-rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

That game is followed by a home clash against another title-contender, Liverpool.

If Spurs can come through both of those games unbeaten then the fans will really start to dream about what could happen this season.

Tottenham can be backed at 2.75 to finish in the top four and 1.66 to finish in the top six.

There will be no complaints from the Tottenham fans so far. The doubters have been won over and Tottenham are flying, playing great football and winning games.

However, it is still very early days, the season is long and hard, injuries will no doubt play a part at some part and bigger tests are on the horizon.

But so far so good for Postecoglou and Tottenham, who are going well even with Harry Kane having left for Bayern Munich.
