Australian Racing: Iobject ready to double up

There are three meetings set to race on Monday, with wet tracks expected at both Kempsey and Cowra and a good 4 surface forecast for York.

Race 6 Cowra

Zabeelsareringing @ 4.40

Race 5 Kempsey

Iobject @ 3.80

Race 6 York

Rockstar Status @ 4.20

Zabeelsareringing set to salute

Cowra are set to race on a soft 5 track with the penultimate contest on their seven-race card a 1700m Benchmark 58 handicap.

Aussie Pharoah recorded a half-length second in a Class 1 1600m set weights event at Dubbo in January.

The four-year-old went on to double his career tally when successful by over four lengths in a 1550m Benchmark 50 handicap on a good 4 track at Gilgandra last month.

Trained by Mack Griffith, who boasts a 50% strike-rate (4/8) with his runners in the last 30 days, the gelding has trialled with a fourth at Dubbo since that success.

An inside alley is a positive here, however, this looks a stronger contest than the one he tackled at Gilgandra and ZABEELSARERINGING is the pick on this occasion.

The six-year-old has placed second in five of his seven outings this prep, including in each of his last three starts.

The 4.40 gelding lost out by a narrow margin when contesting a 2000m Class 1 set weights event on a good 4 track at Albury at the start of last month.

The softer going expected here is no issue, having followed that up with a placed effort in a Benchmark 58 handicap at Goulburn on 15th February.

Kayla Nisbet, on board at Albury returns to the saddle here and she is taken to partner the son of Zariz to victory.

Iobject to complete a double

The fifth race on the Kempsey card is a competitive looking Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place over 1000m.

A number of these clashed at Grafton last month, with Our Pebbles expected to have her supporters following a fourth in a 1015m Benchmark 58 handicap that day.

The filly was beaten just over half-a-length on that occasion and is a winner already this prep, having broken her maiden over 1010m at Ballina three starts back.

While she has plenty in her favour, including an inside barrier, preference is for the winner that day IOBJECT, who is another drawn close to the rail.

The 3.80 pick had recorded some fair efforts in defeat prior to that victory, including when beaten just over two lengths in a 1300m Benchmark 58 handicap at Coffs Harbour in January.

Two eighth-place finishes followed, including when beaten nearly five lengths in an 1181m Class 4 handicap on a good 4 track just under a month ago.

The four-year-old was winning for the fourth time in his career when successful by half-a-length in the previously mentioned Grafton contest.

While the gelding has to shoulder top weight here, apprentice Mitch Stapleford takes two kilograms off his back and his mount looks up to recording his second win at this venue.

Status looks like a Rockstar

York are set to stage an eight-race card, with ROCKSTAR STATUS the selection to deliver a victory in the sixth race of the day, a Benchmark 52+ handicap over 1500m.

The 4.20 selection is the winner of two of her three starts this prep, with both of those wins coming over 1190m at Narrogin.

The second of those victories saw the mare salute by just under one-and-a-half-lengths in a Benchmark 58+ handicap held on a good 3 track in January.

The daughter of Awesome Rock stepped up in grade when fourth in a 1213m Benchmark 58+ handicap at Geraldton subsequently and this looks like an easier contest.

The extra distance she tackles here should prove no issue, with the five-year-old taken to return to winning ways under Austin Galati.
