A-League: Jets aim to enjoy home advantage

Saturday’s A-League fixture schedule is an exciting one, with three of the top four teams all in action.

Joint-leaders Wellington Phoenix face a tricky trip to face a Newcastle Jets side who picked up a big win on Tuesday and who should be full of confidence.

Phoenix are 6.00 to win the minor premiership, and these are the kind of games they need to be winning if they are to go all the way.

Third-placed Western Sydney Wanderers are also away from home as they take on bottom-of-the-ladder Western United, who have won just two games all season.

To wrap up the day, fourth-placed Central Coast Mariners will look to keep the good times rolling when they entertain Brisbane Roar.

Wanderers cannot shake the sequence of win one, lose one, and their failure to string wins together could cost them.

They suffered a shock home defeat against Perth Glory at the weekend, so going by recent form, they are due a win.

Wanderers beat Western United 5-0 earlier in the season, but have lost on their last two trips to AAMI Park.

Western were involved in a 3-3 thriller against Macarthur in their last game and we could be in for more goals here.

Over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.53, while both teams to score is 1.50.

The Jets picked up their first win in four attempts when beating Brisbane Roar 3-1 at McDonald Jones Stadium on Tuesday night.

Apostolos Stamatelopoulos was back among the goals when scoring a brace and he now has 10 for the season.

He also scored two when Newcastle pulled off a big shock by winning 3-0 in Wellington last month.

The strike ace will be a huge threat again and can be backed at 5.00 to score the first goal, or 2.25 to score at anytime.

The Phoenix also have a forward that is bang in form. Kosta Barbarouses has eight for the season and he is 3.50 to score at anytime.

They will need him to shine, as they have lost on their last three visits to McDonald Jones Stadium.

OddsCentral Coast Mariners 1.40, Draw 5.25, Brisbane Roar 6.50

The Mariners continue to fly and remain undefeated in their last nine games.

They have won four of the last five, including a 2-1 home win over Melbourne City at the weekend.

Central Coast have been sharing the goals around since Marco Tulio moved on and Angel Torres, who scored in the last game, is always a big threat.

He can be backed at 2.40 to score at anytime.

Roar have won just one game in the last four and conceding goals continue to be a big problem. They have leaked 33 so far this season.

The games between the two sides are usually high-scoring and over 2.5 goals in this one can be backed at 1.40.
